Self and nature are too abstract, and everyone will have their own understanding of this. If the kindness and love between people shown in the film come from people's self-nature, then the same is true for those tyranny, jealousy, and hatred. .
Therefore, it is extremely dangerous to establish the value system of individuals and ethnic groups on the basis of "facing oneself sincerely and following the call of nature", which means the disintegration of common values and beliefs. Means division between people. I can't prove the supremacy of Christianity, or some kind of religious belief, or value system, but what is certain is that a group without a common belief is terrifying, and opposition not based on identity is terrifying.
Modern civilization has made great achievements, and the development of science and technology has broken many ignorance, but on the other hand, it has destroyed the foundation of common belief (let alone the foundation of the existence of religious beliefs: theological system, its authenticity), but cannot really give A truly reliable basis for the existence of new common beliefs. Here are some of my worries after watching the film.
The righteous words of the priest's wife when exposing the priest's hypocrisy and vanity, and the women who were subjected to domestic violence bravely sang their voices in front of everyone, these seem to be full of enthusiasm and bright hope. But can this ideal of being faithful to one's own heart really become the foundation of a new belief, and can people really be happy because of it? After breaking the old confinement, it seems to have fallen into a larger black hole.
But I think I may have overlooked one of the most important elements of the film: the chorus. In the film, the conductor often talks about "knowing how to listen". Not only listening to the voice of the self, but more importantly listening to the organic whole voice of the self and the surrounding.
I think these harmonies are more important than the confident, impassioned words and solos. Everyone has their own voice characteristics, which symbolize the personality of different individuals. In harmony, people cannot act recklessly. If everyone only wants to highlight themselves, there will be only screams and dull noises.
But by listening to each other and integrating their own voices into the whole, the harmony has a beauty that a solo can't match.
Faith will always exist, no matter what form it takes, otherwise, how to check and balance people's eternal selfishness and greed, how to make different personalities prosper with each other, instead of blindly competing against each other until they are destroyed together.
The old common belief, if it comes from reverence and admiration for God, is based on extreme suppression of individual desires.
That new common belief comes from a common ground based on some basic common ground for living in this common land. Kind of like the harmony in the movie.
