A suspenseful horror film with an aftertaste in the story structure brings the audience into the dialectics of "real" and "virtual reality". Sam. Neal plays a private detective who is being tracked down by a publisher for a horror bestselling author who suddenly and mysteriously disappears, with some of the oddities of his work being able to drive readers crazy and cause a lot of irrational violence. The detective didn't believe the book was magical at first, but as he tracked down the locations of the stories written in the book, he found out that the plots were real, and he became more and more insane. John. Carpenter's performance in this film is just average, but the fantasy-rich plot really attracts the audience to go deeper into the atmosphere of the story step by step, hoping to find out the truth of the incident. Some special effects in the film can challenge people's visual experience. .
