drama in horror

1. I haven't read Stephen King's original book. As far as the movie is concerned, the basic story structure of this story is very good and a little interesting, but the second half is indeed a little dull, not as shocking as I expected.

2. Bryan Singer's ability to control the story is really good, and the narrative is clean and accurate. What is especially commendable is that it is not easy to tell a story that has no sense of horror at all. Really a good director.

3. If this movie did not have the wonderful performances of the two leading actors, I am afraid it would not have been established at all. The actors selected by the director are very good.

4. The textbook performance of veteran actor Ian McKellen completely conquered me. The films he watched before were all commercial films, the "Lord of the Rings" series and the "X-Men" series. Although the two characters Gandalf and Magneto portrayed were good, they didn't see how great they were. This "Nazi Chase" is a shock to me. In fact, this role does not belong to the category that is easy to grasp. On the surface, he is a somewhat down-to-earth and unremarkable lonely old man, but in fact there is still the kind of sinful blood imprinted in his bones. The old man's performance fits perfectly with the characters, and the distorted evil feeling that appears and disappears from time to time really makes me shudder.

5. Brad Renfro was only 15 years old when he appeared in this film, but his performance was exceptionally accurate. The key word for this character is "curiosity," and Brad nailed it perfectly. It is really a pity for this actor to pass away prematurely. Not only is he handsome, but his temperament is absolutely different from actors of the same age. He is both good and evil, and he is very eye-catching in front of the camera.

6. Overall, this film can be watched, but don't hold too much expectations before.
