Something Borrowed

I just finished watching this movie, and suddenly felt a little crazy. I wrote it as a self-talk~

Very simple plot, which is especially common in Laomei's movies, a pair of good friends rachel and darcy who grew up together since childhood. , Two months before darcy's marriage, rachel and darcy's fiancé dex ran together to roll the bed, and then pulled out a lot of plots about guilt, friendship, and love. The movie tells about the past of rachel and dex while darcy pulls rachel to accompany her to do all kinds of things rachel doesn't want to do. The more we watch, the more we think rachel and dex are the perfect match It is indeed so. Movies are movies, and they will always find ways to reduce the psychological burden for the audience. For example, arranging darcy to be a particularly self-righteous and extremely self-centered person, so that the audience can sympathize with rachel and become more determined that rachel should be with dex. Not a betrayal, it was a match made in heaven. In fact, there is nothing to criticize morally, not to mention how open the concept of old beauty is, as far as the plot in the movie is concerned, dex seems to be shrinking in addition to being very handsome. The day of marriage is approaching step by step, and I take a weekend away from my busy schedule to try the feeling of being together with rachel. I'm afraid this can't be regarded as a fight for true love, at least I don't think so.

In fact, many people in life are cowardly. We are used to resigning ourselves to fate and taking one step at a time. Few brave people will dare to make changes, or dare to fight for it. Like in the play, dex hesitated to hold a wedding, and asked his father vaguely: "Have you ever gone down a road, Imean, far down it and wondered maybe if it wasn't what you want?" Here, dex's Dad gave a paragraph of answer, which I remember well: "What you want? The problem with that expression is, it's frequently at odds with what's right." Finally, dex's father warned him to let dex and rachel break up because "that's not the kind people we are".

Speaking of this, first of all I don't think dex and rachel are right, at least what they did did hurt darcy, especially when darcy took a bite and you were my best friend in my life. The friendship between boys and girls is completely different. Thinking of this, I think of a joke I saw before. It is quite appropriate. If the girls have a good relationship, they will say "I miss you" and "I love you" to each other. And so on, while the boys have a good relationship, the dialogue is as follows, "Grandson, what are you doing?", "Go away, SB". When I say this, I actually want to say that the friendship between girls is a bit like love. When she has a boyfriend, you will feel lost and afraid that her boyfriend will take your place in her heart. It has never been clearly stated in the play whether darcy really regards rachel as such a good friend, so leave her alone, but at least in rachel's heart, darcy is very important, even more than a childhood sweetheart growing up, and protecting everything Rachel's blue-eyed confidant Ethan, I was very moved by the part where Ethan confessed to Rachel, because from what Ethan did, we could see that he didn't care what Rachel did, as long as it was what Rachel wanted , ethan will support her, not everyone can do this, it should be said that most people can't do it.

In fact, from the perspective of my heart, I hope that Rachel will finally let go of dex. Even if she can't like ethan, she should not be with dex. Some people may say that since it is true love, how can it be so easy to give up. But I feel that dex is too cowardly. To put it nicely, it means that I can't bear to let others hurt. In fact, it is selfish. He called off the wedding, but he said "I can't". Well, according to my opinion, I don't think Rachel should say it. Of course, some people also think that after all, they have won it for themselves, and it is also a wish. Of course, this is another matter. However, think about how much burden Rachel has on her heart. She is a kind girl who sincerely regards Darcy as her best friend. This kind of guilt for betrayal by a friend is not something that ordinary people can bear, so I am more I hope she can leave in a dashing manner, even if she heals her wound in the end, so that dex will regret her wrong choice for the rest of her life.

Of course, it is too naive to think so. If it is in real life, it is very likely that dex will not be forgotten one year after rachel leaves, two years, three years early, and then continue to live a wonderful life, because After all, worrying about life is really rare in real life. Compared with the male protagonist dex, I prefer the supporting male actor Ethan. I like his attitude that he doesn't care about anything for Rachel's happiness. I like his sincere worry for Rachel when she doesn't dare to fight for her happiness. Some people may think that Ethan is also a little bit. Selfish, but who's to say, in real life, you wouldn't expect someone to be so wholehearted for you?

At the end of the movie, dex canceled the wedding and arranged an affair for darcy in order to minimize rachel's disgraceful value. In the movie, I always thought involuntarily that this is the arrangement that the director should be together in order to make the audience better accept the hero and heroine. It is a match made in heaven.

To sum up, this movie is really a fairy tale, and the prince in it, in the adult world, is actually not so beautiful. You can't be foolishly moved because of the happy ending. In fact, this plot is quite ironic. . .

Something Borrowed quotes

  • Ethan: [about Dex] Oh my God. So when are you gonna tell him? Do you want me to tell him? I would love to tell him.

Rachel: It's none of your business. I told Darcy to marry him. I'm bowing out.

Ethan: Rachel, she just told you she's cheating. You want your opportunity, take it.

  • Ethan: I don't really get it. I don't get how you let her win all the time.

    Rachel: Wow.

Ethan: Oh, no. "Wow" nothing. Because if the tables were turning, you'd think she'd let you win?

Rachel: Will you stop? What is it with you two? Why do you hate her so much?

Ethan: What are you talking about? I don't hate her. I hate the fact that you yield at her at every turn.
