My impression of the film was completely spoiled by criminal Eddie's chatter and happy ending.
At the beginning of the film, Jack recorded a paragraph of his own words to the tape recorder "But the truth is not like this...", which always makes people's eyes shine. But the happy ending seems a bit out of the way. If in the part of the bus, Eddie finally insisted on going to court alone to correct the murderer, and Jack's "heroic death" would be more exciting and realistic. No one stipulates that justice must triumph over evil...
A dying old police detective, he has the experience, skills, and slightly procrastination, slow action, acting very well. But the criminal Eddie, I think, was a total failure of the film, and there were several times when I listened to him nagging and wanted to kill him with a single shot. If he were a woman, I'm sure I wouldn't think so.
Finally came to a conclusion: I am a too demanding audience.
