Unfinished, waiting to finish reading "Beethoven"

I was watching Romain Rolland's biography of Beethoven recently and came across this movie by accident.

I haven't read the book yet, and this film review is going to be completed after reading the book, but the two scenes in this film that moved me the most and made me sad for Beethoven have to be told.

When Beethoven talked about putting his ears close to the piano and playing Moonlight (perhaps another famous song), he was intoxicated by the wonderful music, and for a moment, seemed to be away from all troubles.

When the movie is in Ode to Joy, the camera enters the memory of Beethoven. He thinks about the time when he escaped from his brutal father, the starry sky at that time, and the thought of lying in a puddle and looking at the sky. The stars, fantasizing himself to be one of them, he feels happy from the heart, and it is this irresistible happiness that supports him in maintaining hope in a miserable life and composes great music.

  • Ludwig van Beethoven: You know why wigs went out of fashion? Because too many ended up in the bottom of baskets.

  • Johanna Reiss: He had revealed his most hidden secrets to us. The circle was broken. I could not hate the man who could write such music.
