As the director's debut feature film with nine knives, this film still has some problems:
1. The theme is a bit scattered. In the end is it in pure love, or do you want to talk about life growth? The material of sexual exploration is quite heavy, but it is free from the theme of love, and it is not enough as the backbone of the growth theme.
2. Improper structure. There are as many as six supporting characters, and at least two of them are unnecessary from the script structure (but there is no way, you need to take care of the authenticity). Assuming it is a pure love theme, there should be more high school crushes and ambiguities. But the high school period in the film is short, and the hero and heroine begin to feel it. Suddenly, they graduate from high school, and many wonderful scenes in the novel are discarded. From the detailed structural arrangement, I personally think the original novel is more reasonable. When I asked this question at the venue, Nine Swords replied: 1. He wants to discuss the theme of growth, 2. The movie is short and must be cut, and I hope to make an idol drama.
3. There are many private interests, and sometimes they will become useless branches. Let’s not talk about the sexual exploration paragraphs, and other small and interesting details (for example, the four-legged beast in the bathroom of the college boys, the otaku who refuses to go to the toilet, etc.) The audience laughed. Of course, some personal details still play a role, such as Chi Guoguo at the beginning, scolding the old man downstairs in English.
The subtitles and the Easter eggs that appear after the subtitles are broadcast are the concentrated expression of the personal interests of the "Stinky Fart King", the nine knives. After all, that's who he is.
However, I can still give high marks to this film, and I think it will still get a high box office. Let the above problem no longer be a few aspects of the problem:
1. Successful hero and heroine. Michelle Chen and Ke Zhendong, good temperament and great performance! Way to go!
2, many wonderful clips. Maybe the overall structure is lacking, but the clips are often brilliant, like the one against the instructor.
3. The original novel can help the audience make up for the missing logic and details. Generally, private youth movies make the audience puzzled, because although the director knows the ins and outs and details of personal private youth well, if he intentionally or unintentionally assumes that the audience should know, it will be tragic. Fortunately, the original book of this movie is a big seller. At least book fans have no problem understanding the movie, and they can even make up for some wonderful clips that were unfortunately discarded.
4. The ending is powerful. Of course, it is not for no reason to give a terrifying ending. There have been hints before, at least I am mentally prepared. But the nine knives still surprised everyone. When I narrated this scene to LP, she was also moved. In view of the nine knives asking everyone not to spoil, I won't say more.
5. Youth without discount. When Nine Swords mentioned this movie in their speeches, they would say: This movie is not discounted, because my youth is not discounted. "Reality" is the greatest strength of this film, and it is conveyed by the witnesses of youth with the greatest enthusiasm and sincerity.
Therefore, this is a youthful experience that is worth walking into the cinema to feel attentively. I highly recommend~~
