only howl

A biopic, three main lines, about Allen Ginsberg's early years with the poetry collection Howl.

I don't know much about America in the 1950s and 1960s, the generation known as the Beat Generation, and I basically didn't read the book On The Road that I bought.

In the film, in Mr. Ginsberg's experiences and his poems, the pain and resistance of being a small part of society can be seen.

Everyone has the right to express their feelings, and a small group of people have been discriminated against and unfairly treated by society, so they have to express their dissatisfaction and howl. This is the deepest feeling this movie gave me.

Of course, Mr. Ginsberg's courage to express his admiration and admiration.

In the film, he says that he wrote Howl as if the poem would not be published, and he says that writing poetry is a basic physical urge to write.

Maybe I'll never be able to write poetry because I'm a person without passion. Saying any sentence or writing any sub will be considered over and over again. Consider whether there are errors, and whether there will be ambiguities and misunderstandings. To write poetry, to express myself bravely, is unlikely for someone like me who is overly cautious with words.

I don't like politics, either here where liberty is not protected or where it is relatively fair and free.
I am a timid person, I will not and will not dare to fight for the rights of a small number of people, but I will resolutely defend my most basic rights (if violated).
The life I look forward to is a small happiness, I am good enough, and I don't have the ability to care about more people. I often feel this is a selfish and timid idea, but I'm a person who doesn't have a lot of big ambitions.
My biggest dream in life is to do a job I love, maybe open a lazy little shop, find a lifelong partner with like-minded interests, and not be too poor or rich.

Mr. Ginsberg had three relationships in the movie. The third person he fell in love with made him feel completely loved, and they became lifelong partners.

I don't know the first few people I meet who make me fall in love with me.

Howl quotes

  • [first lines]

Allen Ginsberg: "Howl" for Carl Salomon. I saw the best minds of my generation destroyed by madness, starving hysterical naked, dragging themselves through the negro streets at dawn looking for an angry fix, angel-headed hipsters burning for the ancient heavenly connection to the starry dynamo in the machinery of night...

[continues reading but unheard, credits roll]

  • Allen Ginsberg: There's no beat generation. It's just a bunch of guys trying to get published.
