playful anthropology

Director Ku likes to juxtapose animals and people, which is confirmed in many of his films such as "Underground". This probably inspired some Chinese directors such as Gu Changwei. It's an anthropological metaphor, but it's mostly comedic in the film because he chooses animals that are low-status or even vulgar, like geese. This kind of poultry appears marginal and mediocre in the context of modern urban civilization, and it is such an animal that kindly accompanies people's dreams and sorrows and joys. When you laugh, you feel that it is not believable, and what you think is not believable, it will accompany you and affect you. Perhaps the special political and historical situation in Eastern Europe created this humor and helplessness. Perhaps it can be said very artistically that Ku's works show the absurdity of contemporary people's existence. But I think from the film itself, "Black Cat and White Cat" is a comedy full of inspiration, and the performance and plot setting have made its charm.
