The ultimate in realism

Some films are extreme. Godard has achieved the ultimate in subversion of audio-visual language, Rivette, Tsai Mingliang and others have achieved the ultimate in long shots, and Mizoguchi and Angelopoulos have achieved the ultimate in camera movement. And "Rosetta" is a work of extreme realism. There is no silent sound in any place in the whole film, and there is no music added except for the male drumming sound played on a tape in the middle of the film. The movement of the camera is simple and vulgar to the extreme. Rapid panning, which is basically abandoned, is used in several places. There are no plot points in the narrative, and it follows the flow of life. The scene where the heroine is holding the gas can at the end is moving. The purpose of such creation is very simple, trying to reveal the suffering of existence. However, after all, film is a modern audio-visual art, and it would be unreasonable to regress this art to its original state because of philosophical considerations. In fact, to reveal the deep theme, it is not necessarily necessary to use methods that have almost no audio-visual value. Kieslowski does it better. His images have music, unique camera positions, color, and composition. , has a plot, is almost a perfect expression, and finally completes a noble philosophical proposition. I am skeptical of extreme realistic works, they have depth and enthusiasm, but what I consider is, as a film and television art style, how valuable can they be in history?
