Old New York police detective Jack Moseley (Bruce Willis) has reached retirement age, with heart problems and weak legs. It's almost 8 a.m., and it's time for his shift. Just as Jack was about to change his shift, he was assigned the task of escorting a criminal from prison to court, and he was full of discomfort.
The escort, Eddie (Moss Duff), the criminal who happens to be a chatterer, makes Jack a head and two big as he keeps mumbling along the way. The journey was only 16 short blocks, and Jack stopped to buy some wine to pass the time, but when he walked out of the store, he found that a killer was aiming at Eddie. After all, Jack, who was still alive and well, immediately saved Eddie's life. Only then did he realize that Eddie was not just a repeat offender of petty theft, but a tainted witness in a major case.
It was the corrupt forces of the police who wanted Eddie to stop speaking. They used their police status to do all kinds of evil, and this time they tried to silence the witnesses on the way. One of the leaders of the corrupt forces is Jack's ex-partner, and Jack must bring Eddie to court in just over an hour before the case goes to trial.
