One of the leaders of the resistance movement, Jebier, escaped from the international concentration camp by killing the German guards. Soon, Gepier went to England to receive the honor of General Charles de Gaulle, but after learning that Felix, the interim leader who replaced him, was arrested, he parachuted back to the country overnight to rescue him. After several twists and turns, they have never been able to rescue their companions. Felix and his best friend Francois committed suicide in prison. Jebier was later arrested, and Mathilde orchestrated his rescue. While Jepier was recovering from her wounds, Mathilde was arrested, and her daughter was used as a hostage by the enemy to force her to confess to her companions, but in the end she died under the guns of her companions.
The characters in this film, unlike the heroes of the romantic works, fight for the good of the collective and the nation, but succumb to emotional weakness and personal motives. The film has a deep style and dignified color, which realistically restores the hard and cruel fighting life of the French underground guerrillas during World War II. It creates a few heroic characters in a low-key and simple documentary style, and puts them in a helpless and crisis-ridden situation. Difficulties are clearly manifested. The film also uses a variety of artistic methods to vividly and forcefully express the author's reflection on the resistance movement and its era. It was officially released in mainland my country, and the performances of the male and female protagonists were quite eye-catching.
