Notorious (1946)

is addicted to watching old movies, but you don’t want to watch too dark I chose a movie with "beauty". This film is another Alfred Hitchcock film. It turns out that his films are also quite numerous in IMDB250.

The story of the film fits perfectly with the name of the film—Beauty Strategies, which tells the story of relying on the beauty of women to obtain information. In the US, a German was tried and jailed, and her daughter was stalked. The stalker and the woman knew each other not long before they fell in love. The American spies who followed her aim to obtain German intelligence by relying on her German identity and beauty. The woman loyal to America agreed. So they came to Brazil, and after some seduction, the silly German decided to marry this woman. After the marriage, the woman obtained information and was also discovered by her German husband. Under the planning of her husband and mother-in-law, she secretly poisoned women. Unwitting woman drank poisonous coffee every day and finally fell ill. In the end, the heroic American spy came to the German home alone and rescued the woman he had always loved. The movie ends there.

The story of this film is a complete beauty plan. In order to obtain information, go deep into the tiger's den, and at the cost of her own body - marrying a German, such a dedicated woman is rare on the screen. However, this seems unrealistic. Women are very concerned about their own bodies and marriage, how can the heroine get married so hastily? Maybe she has lost confidence in love, maybe she has no hope in life, maybe she is really patriotic, and no one knows what she really thinks. If she loses confidence in love, it is revenge on the hero; if she has no hope in life, it is because of her family and her father; if she is really patriotic, oh, then I don't know what to say. The above is just my guess. One is always right, right?

The film itself is a suspense film, but compared with other Alfred Hitchcock films, the suspenseful and tense atmosphere is not strong, and it is somewhat mediocre. Most of the whole movie is about the plot and the ins and outs of things. Only the dance part has a little tension. For example, how to avoid her husband, how to enter the wine cellar, how to cover up traces, etc. Apart from this scene, the rest of the film is rather dull, with large sections of dialogue, and some words that are not suspenseful. So, while watching, I fell asleep twice, once at the beginning of the movie and once in the middle of the movie. Obviously, the plot is not strong.

The movie also has another name called "Spy on the Internet", which obviously emphasizes the love between American spies and women. However, their love is too unreal to happen in the real world. My father was sentenced to prison, and then I met a man and fell in love after a few days of getting along. Is this also called love? After the love was born, most of the time in the movie was depicting how painful and tormenting the separation of two people was. It made me feel awkward. Can a love without a foundation be able to love so deeply? In my opinion, the love in this movie is bullshit.

From the above two aspects, this film is a relatively mediocre suspense film, the love is unreal, the plot is not tense, there is not much suspense, and there is nothing to watch. The IMDB rating of this film is so high, I really don't understand. Is it because I'm stupid and can't feel the excitement of the movie? Probably so.

Although the movie is average, the actors in this film impressed me a lot. The heroine is the famous Ingrid Bergman. I have always heard of her before, but I have only heard of her name but not seen her. Today I finally saw one of her business cards. Ingrid Bergman is indeed well-deserved, beautiful, noble, do not have a taste. Her acting skills are also superb, and her grasp of the role, pain, tension, and timidity, are all just right. When she made this film, it was a golden age for a woman, and her beauty was a mature beauty, which was great. Recently, I have watched a lot of old movies, and I have become more and more fond of these actresses in the era of Hollywood black and white films. Each actress has her own characteristics and unique charm. It is a real pleasure to watch them. The male lead is Cary Grant, who doesn't have much of a role in the film, but still gives a personable image of a polite gentleman. It's just that in this film, he looks a little old and has no vitality. Is he sick?

Overall, a not-so-good Alfred Hitchcock movie that surprised me. But for Ingrid Bergman, the film is also worth watching.
