Your vulnerability also makes you strong

Pina Bausch is the most famous modern dance choreographer in Germany, the founder of the far-reaching "Dance Theater" in the European art circle, and is known as the "First Lady of German Modern Dance". I didn't know anything about Pina before watching the movie, but it was this ignorance that allowed me to not have any emotions or opinions, nor try to seek any confirmation, and obtained the most simple and true touch and resonance.

As an architect, I have always believed that both science and art are essentially the same. Whether it’s Descartes establishing a coordinate system, Van Gogh’s depiction of the starry sky and wheat fields, or generations of architects sketching the blueprint of their ideal city on paper, they are nothing more than talking to the world in the way they are good at, so as to try Clarify the understanding of life and self. And Pina chose dance as her language.

Pina's dance is an independent and complete system of expression, and dance is finally no longer attached to other art forms, thus completely occupying a dominant position. It is free, spontaneous, introspective, independent of music, stories, and techniques. The dance itself is the absolute protagonist, and does not even need lighting sets. Dance scenes are everywhere, bustling cities, quiet woods, dark mines, Gardens, dunes, all ordinary or occasional situations where people dance.

Pina's dance is not exactly that kind of pleasing performance, the language of the dance can be violent, aggressive, dissonant, neurotic, repetitive, absurd, and even static, Deadly. Sad-faced female dancers fall over and over again; temptations and confrontations between men and women; comical dance moves that provoke the excited jumps of roadside dogs;

Dance is telling the endless life experiences, presenting all kinds of people's faces, emotions and meanings that can and cannot be expressed by language, and all kinds of life situations. Pina has broadened not only the language of dance, but also the vocabulary of art, and even the expression of language.

The 3D effect of the film amazingly presents the details of the performance, the roughness of the mud adhering to the skin, the flowing skirt, the splash of water, every subtle expression on the dancer's face, the rapid breathing, the trembling limbs, the muscle tension. Tight tension or the sheen of sweat.

The concept of "beauty" finally no longer needs to be shown in front of people with a flattering face, and no longer need to please anyone. "Beauty" is a sharp scalpel, and Pina uses it to cut the body of the world lying in front of us.

"Deine Zerbrechlichkeit ist auch deine Stärke"

"Your vulnerability makes you strong", a thin Asian dancer remarks calmly, which Pina once told her and struck me.

If vulnerability is the inherent color of "self", betrayal, ruthlessness, selfishness, doubt, and transmutation interpret the fickleness of fate, whether it is sinking, depression, anger, or reflection, denial or forgiveness, vulnerability makes us Know yourself and see the true and incomparably magnificent truth of life.

Life is so broad, it starts again and again, and the "self" is an abyss. What will we use to fill it, Pina gave her answer.

"Tanzt, tanzt sonst sind wir verloren."

    There is no denying that "Pina" is a documentary of great artistic value. This kind of unique dance must be more intriguing to watch on the scene, such a powerful body language really made my eyes shine. But I don't know anything about this kind of dance, it's too noble, too artistic, I never appreciate it.

    Theater art and film are still too natural enemies.
