I remember the first time I had such a skin-like understanding of Senna was when I just watched F1 not long ago. Five Star Sports made a short film about Senna for several years while in San Marino. I vaguely remember that the beginning of the short film is like this: "There is an Imola in the distant Europa, and a myth was born many years ago. His name is Senna..."
In fact, Senna has always been just a symbol to me. His untimely death made his record less than Schumacher's. Without going through that era, I can't understand how thrilling the rivalry between him and Prost was, and how hard Senna's death was for the entire racing world. But, he is a car god. Schumacher's record is brilliant, and he is only the king of cars. Senna is held on the altar.
This film is for us young car fans, how lucky we are to be able to relive that period of history and feel the thrilling scene that we could not witness. I still couldn't help crying when I watched him struggle to lift the Brazil trophy with his almost unconscious hand in 1991. Even though this shot has been seen many times before.
There are great drivers in every era. But they will retire, and they will gradually fade out of our sight. But Senna will always keep his best side in the hearts of every car fan. For a man like Senna who has the spirit of a driver who will always strive for the first place, dying in the paddock may be his best destination.
It is almost fitting that he died in a race car.
