The Tragedy Power of Traditional Societies

All traditional societies are male-dominated societies, especially women's chastity, sex is brought to a very serious level, and adultery is regarded as a shame for the entire family. Since we are also in the process of transforming from traditional society to modern society, we have a deeper sympathetic understanding of "Three Monkeys" by Turkish director Ceylon.

In modern society, the events in the movie would not have evoked that series of tragic reactions at all, but a broken family and perhaps a romance of a middle-aged woman regaining love.

But in Turkey, it's all different.

A family of three, plus a cheating boss, no one seems to be a bad person, everyone is helpless. After the son discovered his mother's adultery with the boss, he sneaked away and covered it up in front of his father, showing that he did not want to expose the fact. After his father was released from prison, he discovered the abnormality of his wife and suspected that his wife might have something to do with the boss, but he did not ask. The boss was afraid that things would be exposed, so he cut off contact with his mother after his father was released from prison.

It turned out to be an affair that could cover up the past, but because of her mother's feelings for the boss, she couldn't handle it. For the peace of the family, the son killed the boss, the mother almost jumped off the building, and the father wanted to go to the top. Because in the end it was someone else's top package, a big family tragedy was avoided.

Looking at it before and after, the three members of the family want to avoid the tragedy, but the feelings of the awakening woman make everything inevitable.

The director is indeed very delicate, and the inner struggles of the son, father, and mother are revealed very clearly, which makes the film have moving power.

The details are agile enough, but the whole is still too hard. Ceylon's films have always been straightforward. I really enjoyed watching this movie~
