Li Bai said that this world is a hotel, where people come and go. When I read this when I was young, I realized two things. First, Li Bai was drinking too much. Second, even an optimistic person would never leave such words of realm passed down from generation to generation. I have always been a pessimistic person in my bones, and watching movies also has an attempt to heal. "The Diving Bell and the Butterfly" is such a movie.
The protagonist wakes up from a coma and finds himself speechless and blinking is the only way to keep in touch with the world. If the body is a hotel, bauby is trapped in it, unable to speak. From the perspective of the viewer, the sense of immersion is self-evidently strong. At first, he can playfully tease himself surrounded by beautiful nurses, but the strong sense of confinement caused by the inability to communicate has always been the background color of the film. Recalling and imagining every detail that happened to me, those vague memories became clear little by little, and everything was carefully recollected and thought. A wonderful scene in the film is when Bauby recalls his experience of shaving his father, the old man's broken remarks, and now he thinks it is a sweet thing. Affair, divorce, ex-wife, the originally complicated past is sorted out little by little. . . .
