I think the answer is yes, and this is the inspiration I got after watching this film. Russell, the protagonist of the film, had a car accident and almost met God, but this accident made him suddenly wake up and decide to bid farewell to his previous double-sided life. When the police carried him to the ambulance, he shouted excitedly "I'm gay", like a new life. The accident became a turning point in his entire life, and he decided to live his own life, not for others to see. This transformation created a new Russell and a moving love story.
There may be no major changes in our lives like Russell's approaching death. Our lives have always been lived step by step, living on our own stage every day, but to perform for others to see. Many gays can't stand the strange eyes of others and the pressure from their families, so they find a woman to marry and live a "normal" life. Then he gave himself a very noble reason, for the sake of his parents, in order to satisfy their wishes, to embrace his grandson as soon as possible. But as long as you think about it carefully and strip off the mask of human hypocrisy, you will know that this is pure nonsense.
There is only one kind of love in the world that is selfless and does not count in return, and that is maternal love. Because the child was once a piece of flesh on the mother's body, the continuation of her life and body, she could give up her life for the child. This is nature's greatest gift to mankind. All other emotions are more or less driven by interests, and even if we do not admit it at the conscious level, there is no way to deny the objective existence of this utilitarianism. Are you really getting married for your parents? Maybe you are all moved by your filial piety, sacrificing your ego to achieve everyone. But remember for yourself, do you really care what your parents think?
Marriage is actually a show. As long as you do it, you can at least have less pressure to be stared at by others, and you can reduce the troubles caused by your parents' nagging all day long. . But our rational level will put a beautiful coat on our subconscious, and then let us be deceived by our own lies, thinking that everything we do is for our parents, how selfless and great.
I hope that Russell's transformation can awaken more comrades, and instead of trying to make themselves feel better, why not be direct and go their own way. In this way, you can at least harm an innocent woman less, and she also has the right to find a love that belongs to her. Instead of following you, a gentleman on the surface, who is sneaking around behind his back.
