Once in a lifetime, have a soft spot

I like this film, I don't know if it's because of the black and white film that it feels purer and sadder. I've seen Lao Xu's version before, it's inevitable to compare each other, and I like this one more.

Lisa's tenderness, compassion, loyalty, and self-esteem moved me. From a little girl to eighteen-year-old youth and then to a mother, the heroine grasps it properly. Especially when the male protagonist starts to recall her, every look in her eyes has the taste that she should have at her age, and the soulless love that hesitating to speak always runs through it. That last night, I thought she would stay. But she didn't. On the way, she met an alcoholic who said the same thing to her, and she really sobered up.

The handsomeness and charm of the male protagonist is indeed more in line with the image of the crush in the hearts of most girls than Jiang Wen. When he finished reading the letter, the tears in his eyes made me read his pain. He was trying to remember everything about her, but he still couldn't remember. The housekeeper wrote her name on the paper. When the camera pulled towards that name, I was so sad.

In my eyes Lisa is actually happy and loved because she is true to her love. Her whole life belonged to him, only him, and he reborn him twice, once to meet and once to have their child.

I also had a deep crush on a person, because I tried a lot to get close to him, and he wanted to know what he liked. When I saw him getting close to other women, my heart was so sad that I could barely beat. Inadvertently, the moment the two of them meet their eyes, they will be crazy, as long as they are within two or three meters, they will be betrayed by the blush on their faces... Maybe this is the only time in this life to love without asking for anything in return.

Lao Xu's version would be better if he could lose some other people and things. Secret love has always been plunged into loneliness, and irrelevant and inhuman feelings are superfluous. However, I like "Pipa Language" very much, "Xianxian covers the voice and thinks", she wrote all her thoughts in the letter, and this song made me understand it even more.

#FirstOrphels# I didn't expect too much, but after watching it, I really felt that this movie perfectly explained what it means to "destroy the original". A mournful and tactful love letter is the confession of an infatuated woman who has no reservations about her love and is extremely frank. After being adapted into a movie, it has become a collection of scumbags and girls. What Zweig is best at is psychological description. He is one of the authors who best reflects his writing skills and is difficult to visualize directly. Many of the flavors of the film are lost.

big screen. Did you go to the Orpheus in Hollywood and just wouldn't make a movie? Although Hollywood can erode the authorship, it is not that there are no successful cases of European authors going to Hollywood to shoot... This is tied up, what is the filming, it is too mediocre. If it wasn't for Orpheus's work that could barely give three stars, it would have to deduct another star because it was his work. 2022.1.15 @BFI

Letter from an Unknown Woman quotes

  • Lisa Berndl: The course of our lives can be changed by such little things. So many passing by, each intent on his own problems. So many faces that one might easily have been lost. I know now that nothing happens by chance. Every moment is measured; every step is counted.

  • Lisa Berndl: Oh, if only you could've recognized what was always yours, could've found what was never lost. If only...
