The play at the Mahjong Hall at the beginning of the film is particularly good. The picture and the voice-over are two parallel tracks, each explaining each other, and the amount of information is rich, which sets a dark tone for the film, which is quite a bit of Scorsese. In this way, the film runs wildly on the road of the epic movie, until Lao Mian kills and runs to Seoul, the film deviates from the track, and slashes down a bloody path full of thorns, and finally falls behind. It feels like Rodriguez's "Dawn Out", a good road movie was finally ruined by a ghost movie.
Of course, in terms of sensory stimulation, making a movie like this is very enjoyable, but in terms of the quality of the movie, it still sacrifices the realm and reduces the style. Convergence may be the difference between classic films and cult films. Similar movies, such as Er Dongsheng's "Shinjuku Incident", just didn't hold on to it and ended up anticlimactic. Of course, "Shinjuku Incident" and "Yellow Sea" are not on the same level as a whole.
Even if the second half of this film is "snake tail", it is not comparable to the tiger head of ordinary films. The rough style of the pseudo-documentary is really very enjoyable, especially it is a great performance.
