American dramas with legal themes are destined to be boring and serious, but this one will not. There is no analysis of too many boring cases, but focuses on the character's personality and interesting themes, with some humor. There are several independent cases in each episode, and love is interspersed in them but does not account for the weight. The litigation process and closing are very exciting. You can watch it as an ordinary American drama, and you can learn a lot of legal common sense in addition to entertainment. Of course, it is limited to the United States; or, it is not boring to use it as a material to practice speaking or even writing. There are many legal dramas, and I only recommend Boston Legal and The Practice, although they are just for laymen to watch the fun.

Appearance. The characters of the two protagonists are revealed, Allen is naughty, sharp and uninhibited, Denny is arrogant and crazy, the two old men who are not handsome look more attractive, they are all eccentric and talented people, high-profile and eye-catching.

I'm having a bit of an identity crisis. I've always prided myself on being nuts. But in this firm, I find myself falling into the same category. Allen and Denny sit face to face and they start to feel like each other. Jin made a forgettable friendship.
Recognize a psychology term: Identity crisis: A psychosocial state or form that manifests as a dislocation of origin and confusion of roles and causes extreme concentration.

three cases.
1. Racial discrimination. A little black girl won first place in a singing competition but was rejected from an opera performance. The judge was waiting to dismiss the appeal on the grounds that the producer had the right to choose freely. A black priest came in to give a generous speech on civil rights, from Kennedy to American Idol. Everyone stood up and applauded, and the judge had to change the sentence. This priest is Denny crane who came to help Allen. By the way, when the little black girl was singing, everyone in the courtroom was dumbfounded, but Allen was moved to tears, and it was quite a funny episode. This guy is actually quite handsome.

2. Divorce cases. The divorced wife finds a job in another city, but her husband makes things difficult for her and asks to raise the child locally, otherwise she will take back custody. Only because of US policy support, her application to immigrate with her children was rejected. Unable to do anything, Allen made a trick, the case was none of his business, and secretly took a photo of her husband with whore to threaten to withdraw the case. A well-known lawyer from a prestigious law firm, who would have thought that he would use the inferior means of extortion to win? But he did win.

3. Denny seduces the wife of E, the biggest client of the law firm. The solution is even more confusing, first Tara seduces E with female sex, so that he can give up revenge on his change-hearted wife, then Denny is all over the place, and E puts down the gun and nothing happens.

In episodes after Boston Legal, you'd be amazed that such totally substandard and even ethical solutions are so unscrupulous; values can be so cunningly stripped and subverted. Who says lawyers have to obey the law? There is no clear definition of good and evil, it all depends on which side you are defending. The law itself seems like a paradox, and the result is king.

I have to mention a case in The Practice that I have always been impressed by. The Practice is the predecessor of Boston Legal, but the style is more serious, and it pays more attention to case analysis and court defense.

A man was arrested for murdering his wife, but he refused to plead guilty. The lawyer accidentally learned that it was their daughter (a minor) who poisoned her mother, so she reported it to the court, the man was released in court, and the girl was arrested. After the man was released from prison, he found a lawyer to sign a non-disclosure agreement and then told the truth. It turned out that his wife was really killed by him, but later he colluded with his daughter to play a role, using the lawyer as a pawn to get himself out of the crime. Now it's up to him to save his daughter and let the lawyer know that she's innocent, so of course she's released. However, according to the lawyer's non-disclosure agreement, that is, the confession in the non-disclosure agreement cannot be used as court evidence, and the "prohibition of double jeopardy" of the US Criminal Procedure Law, that is, no one can be subject to the same crime more than twice (including twice); so there is no evidence and no charges for this man to go to jail again. This is a man well versed in the law, and the lawyer is furious but helpless, watching him at large. It's hard to believe that a person who is obviously guilty can escape legal punishment in a grand manner, but this is the legal process in the United States. "As long as you choose the right lawyer, you have the best judicial system." It's unbelievable. It doesn't apply to China. In China, how much can we say the real role of lawyers?

end. At the end of the day, Allen and Denny were on the roof terrace at night, facing the night view of Boston, drinking a little wine, smoking a cigar, and talking about anything, without looking into its meaning, just for a relaxing break. This ending is constant, BL's classic closing, as if this ideal state and some kind of anticipation could stretch indefinitely.

Boston Legal quotes

  • Denny Crane: It's a good feeling, you know, to shoot a bad guy. Something you Democrats would never understand. Americans... we're homesteaders, we want a safe home, keep the money we make, and shoot bad guys.

  • [both with a cigar in an ear]

Denny Crane: We look good together.

    Alan Shore: Yes, we do.
