fish and tank

The English title of "Fish Tank" is "Fish Tank". Looking at the whole film, there is actually no fish tank, but I think it is more interesting to divide the title of the film into two.
Fish are always swimming. Although they may not have strong power, they still swim like this in the vast water world. At the beginning of the film, the protagonist Mia is out of breath, and it is only later that she realizes that she is practicing dancing. Mia's appearance is not amazing, but it is enough to raise eyebrows - she seems to have had some conflicts with her friend Keely (but never explained it), and even went downstairs to throw stones at Keely's house to vent. Seeing Keely dancing with a group of girls who are not very good at dancing in the square, Mia walked over and made a foul language. It seems that Mia is the image of a little sister. Rebellious, persistent, eager to pursue dreams, do not want to be bound. As soon as she got home, Mia was reprimanded by her mother again. This is a single parent family. Mia has a younger sister, Taylor, who is even worse than her older sister. She is full of foul language and smokes makeup.
Mia's life seems to be like this, and the meaning of her existence seems to be dancing every day. Like a fish, swimming in its own tank. She didn't go to school, and in her cramped room, apart from the bed, there were only CDs stacked high. No TV, no computer, in my eyes she lives a pure life. In fact, who wasn't like this when they were young? When we were young, we didn’t have a computer either, so after school we would play outside with our friends or girlfriends. At that time, we didn't do homework in Starbucks, we didn't know what an iPad was, and even some people, like me, just stayed at home quietly and read. Nowadays, life is really rich. Children are in contact with the society when they are young. They are no longer holding lollipops or basketballs, but iPhones or iPads. So children become very complicated. They learned a lot, but also lost a lot.
Let's go back, Mia's life has changed since she met Connor. Connor was his mother's boyfriend, not handsome but masculine. The first time they met, Connor praised Mia for her good dancing. This was the first time Mia was recognized for her behavior in the movie. This detail is important. Mia seemed distant to Connor. Mia's mother, although a bit vulgar, has the charm of a mature woman. In contrast, Mia doesn't have a plump and attractive figure, and her face is still covered with freckles. She is really fresh. But as if to attract Connor's attention, Mia took her mother's stuff to make up (unfortunately, she is really not suitable, the thick eye shadow makes her nondescript. Less rebellious youth, but more vulgar powder), wearing bottom The pants appear languidly in front of Connor - something that's nothing in the West, but Mia is shown in a loose-fitting tracksuit throughout the film, so the scene in her panties is a shock. Also, when Mia was drunk, she pretended to be asleep and let Connor carry her into the bedroom and let Connor help him take off his pants. There is a little trembling and shaking in these shots, which is quite ambiguous. Meanwhile, in order to help Mia realize her idea of finding a dance job, Connor lent her the camera to help her send the application to the company. In addition, there are several scenes worth noting: 1. Connor asked Mia's family to catch fish, and only Mia was willing to go into the water to help him. 2. Connor carefully noticed that Mia's foot injury was not treated properly, so he helped her take off her shoes and socks to deal with it (this scene is quite Chinese-style teasing). 3. In the scene where Mia and Connor appear together, Mia always shows her rare smile. More notably, Connor appears to have given Mia her initial sexual initiation. Mia secretly saw Connor having sex with her mother in the room one night, and this strong sense of sight gave Mia, who had never had a boyfriend, great stimulation. When she returned to the room, she did not lightly move her feet, but slammed the door shut twice. One was to vent the strong excitement in her heart, which seemed to hide some kind of anger from Mia-she hated Connor and her mother like this , she prefers Connor to do this with herself.
Of course, the climax finally came. In the middle of the night, Mia showed Connor the newly-rehearsed dance practice, and under the temptation of Connor, she couldn't help having sex with him. Only at this time did we know that Mia was only fifteen years old. Connor kept asking her to compare his sexuality with Mia's little boyfriend throughout the process. It may seem a little perverted at first, but in fact this is Connor showing his male dominance and courage. Compared to Mia, he is like a tank, trying to conquer Mia both physically and mentally. But when it was over, Connor showed deep regret and guilt. On the surface, it was because Mia was only 15 years old and he was middle-aged. Such an indecent love would never end. So, the next day, Connor left Mia's house and Mia's mother.
Mia became unwilling, and went to him by herself. After much hardship, she found Connor's place. But Connor guiltily gave her the money and hurriedly sent her away. Mia was really persistent and went back again. This time, she accidentally discovered that Connor actually had a wife and children. The camera was originally a picture of her practicing dance, but now it has become a picture of their family enjoying themselves. Mia broke down a bit, but she couldn't do anything. She could only urinate on the carpet of Connor's house, she could only abduct Connor's daughter Keira away, and in the end she had no choice but to send the child back. When Connor caught up with the fleeing Mia, he didn't ask anything, just punched Mia and walked away. Are you asking me if it was love between Mia and Connor? I do not know either. Mia lost her father since she was a child. Is this a manifestation of Electra? Probably. Connor is a typical middle-aged man who has his own family, but is unwilling to live a dull and lonely life. Mia's mother can only be regarded as a lover, giving her freshness in the body. And Mia made him derailed mentally, because Mia has no body and no skills, but the characteristics of the rebellious girl attracted him. I still remember when the two met for the first time, Connor said to Mia: "I like your character very much." It was this kind of stimulation that made Connor gradually approach Mia. But when someone wants to hurt his family, he throws away all this newness and goes back to the family. Mia probably thought it was love between them, and she wanted to resist in this way, but in the end she found that she still couldn't escape. Just like when she went to the dance center for an interview, she found that the other party prefers hot and hot dance, which is a general need of society. How ridiculous is his own hip-hop, the accompaniment ballad "California Dream" (which is also Connor's favorite song). So she resolutely left, the dream was disillusioned, and there was no need to look back.
At the end of the film, Mia is leaving, and she is going to Cardiff, Wales, with her little boyfriend. Before leaving, she danced with her mother, and the picture on the camera was very funny. Mia dances with her mother because she feels as cheated by Connor as her mother? Or a compromise with the mother? Or has Mia matured? Maybe everyone's understanding is different. Regarding Mia's departure, the film is just the narrator and does not give us a clear answer. Are you going to live somewhere else? Or is it Nora's runaway? Or the plot of Kerouac's "On the Road"? I'm afraid even Mia doesn't know. At the end, the movie shows rare warmth, including the parting of Mia and her sister at the end, but I think this is a bit superfluous.
Last shot: A heart-shaped balloon with a broken thread floats into the sky.
Not quite a typical coming-of-age movie, "Fish Tank" depicts a 15-year-old girl's plight and confusion during adolescence. There are not too many personal emotions and moral judgments, it is just a narrative, and there are no youthful cruel stories like "Knock to Tumi", "Guling Street Teenage Murder Case" and "Everything About Lily Zhou". But it's a fish and a tank story, and it's worth watching.
(The content doesn't seem to have anything to do with the title, or it's just the title, just like a fish tank.)
