The truth in plain

Perhaps because I have no personal experience, I still cannot feel the loss of that feeling, so the evaluation of the movie will be more or less biased. There are many commercial blockbusters such as computer stunts in American movies, but low-budget movies about family and family focusing on people's psychological feelings are not uncommon (this mature film industry model of blooming flowers is also what Chinese movies lack). Movies are the representative of the latter.

At first glance, this movie looks bland as water, with no moving scenes, no twists and turns and bizarre plots, and it can even be described as simple. But after careful reflection, you can see the joy, anger, sorrow and joy of the characters performed by Nicole Kidman, Aaron Eckhart, etc., you can see the pain that the loss of a child brings to their hearts, and the abnormal performance in their behavior. Among them, Nicole Kidman's brilliant acting has impressed me the most, and she has shown similar superb performances in many previous films such as "The island" and "Invasion".

Back in the movie, Nicole Kidman's Becca and her husband Howie are in grief over the loss of their son a few months ago, and the movie is about the journey of the two in search of what to do in the future. At the end Becca asked What we gonna do, and Howie answered, people always have to find a way forward.

The picture is very beautiful, the green trees and meadows under the sun, a house of one's own, a yard full of flowers and plants, a leisurely life and parties, the quality of life of Chinese people is really incomparable.

In general, the plot is relatively slow and needs to be savored with tea in the afternoon. It's a good movie to watch, but it's not my type.

  • [last lines]

    Becca: [voice-over] And then what?

    Howie: [voice-over] I don't know... Something though.

  • Nat: You know, Becca, when your brother died, I found the church very helpful.

Becca: I know. I know you did, but that's you. That's not me, and Danny... Danny isn't Arthur.

Nat: You know, I brought you to church every Sunday.

Becca: Let's not start this again, okay, Mom? I'm just... I'm just calling about the cake.

Nat: You're not right about everything, you know? What if there is a God?

Becca: Then I'd say he's a sadistic prick.

Nat: All right, Becca, that's enough.

Becca: "Worship me and I'll treat you like shit." No wonder you like him. He sounds just like Dad.
