"Rabbit Hole"

This is a movie that surprised me, and it is also the most satisfying work for Nicole.
I didn't have high expectations when I read the introduction to the story before,
but after reading it, I was shocked from the bottom of my heart.

This time Ni's optional script was chosen very well. It suits her very well. Nicole is not suitable for acting in movies with twists and turns. She is suitable for this seemingly plain but undercurrent role. Nicole is actually good at inner drama, interpreting the character's character with the corners of her eyes and brows. I always feel that this work is higher than the Oscar-winning "All the Time" (in fact, I always think this is not very good), and even close to "Whatever It Takes", this work has always been regarded by me as her peak work.

So, if Nicole won the Golden Globe Award and the Oscar for Best Actress for "Rabbit Hole", it would not be unexpected.

Let's talk about movies.
The most impressive episodes:
1. The dispute between the heroine and the mother. The uncontrollable sensitivity and extremeness of her pain of losing her son, which had been pretending to be normal, finally broke out when the mother kept mentioning her dead son. The kind of bravery that does not need comfort or charity.
2. Interlude the slow-motion close-up of watching my son get into a car accident. After having a child, Nicole seems to be able to understand the role of mother better. The terrifying and distressing close-up is heart-piercing.
3. After experiencing a difficult psychological transformation with the male protagonist, try to return to the original life. After the PARTY dissipated, the two sat sluggishly, clasping their hands. The director's arrangement is undoubtedly meaningful, and I personally would like to interpret it as the feeling at a loss when the couple first chose to face each other.

In fact, to put it simply, this is the story of a pair of parents who lost their beloved son. A grieving, extreme, and even slightly psychologically twisted couple. But the belief it conveys is: there are some hurdles that we can only choose to face. Come over, those pains will hide in the bottom of my heart, it has always been there, maybe sometimes I touch it accidentally, but maybe one day I will suddenly find that I will no longer be sad for its existence. It becomes an experience, a symbol, like a tattoo.

Painful, bright, heavy.

Well, a whole lot of rambling.
Finally, I wish Nicole won the Golden Globe Award with "Rabbit Hole", won all the weather vanes, and killed the Oscar!

  • [last lines]

    Becca: [voice-over] And then what?

    Howie: [voice-over] I don't know... Something though.

  • Nat: You know, Becca, when your brother died, I found the church very helpful.

Becca: I know. I know you did, but that's you. That's not me, and Danny... Danny isn't Arthur.

Nat: You know, I brought you to church every Sunday.

Becca: Let's not start this again, okay, Mom? I'm just... I'm just calling about the cake.

Nat: You're not right about everything, you know? What if there is a God?

Becca: Then I'd say he's a sadistic prick.

Nat: All right, Becca, that's enough.

Becca: "Worship me and I'll treat you like shit." No wonder you like him. He sounds just like Dad.
