"The Smoke and Clouds of Paris" (or "The Fire of War") is another movie that shocked my heart for a long time. At first, I was attracted by the protagonist and the ratings, because I especially liked Penelope, a Spanish beauty, and I still remember the extremely glamorous face in "Midnight in Barcelona". Objectively speaking, the real heroine in "Ba" is not her, but Theron, a blond beauty. But it didn't disappoint me in the slightest. The protagonist is not the protagonist, it is not so important, the teamwork can make a film truly perfect.
Peace comes from repression, and turmoil comes from release. In the chaos of war, one can see the essence of a person's heart and the most abide by the beliefs. Perhaps this is the so-called troubled times out of heroes. The love between Gilda, Mia, Gale and their beliefs constitute the main clue of the film. In a sense, they are 3Ps. (Reminds me somewhat of Bloomsburg with Cairns and Woolf). It is a feeling that is more complicated and deeper than friendship and love. Women who are both beautiful and intelligent are always the most fascinating. Gilda is such a woman, even if she is bohemian and self-centered, but she has the capital to spend and keep trying. Most importantly, she is wise and talented, and will not betray those she loves. From a very young age, she knew that she would not move forward when she was 34 years old in this life. So in the beginning she thought that everything that happened was predestined, it was arranged before you, and people couldn't change anything. But after two of the loves of her life returned to troubled Spain for their political views and their homeland, she began to rethink her life. Finally, she used her best efforts to meet the inner call. Even if the illusion makes outsiders slander, even if it dies tragically. She loves Guy, she loves Mia. She loved them far more than she confessed. She couldn't escape the numerology of how bad her life has been since ancient times. Guy was a top student at Cambridge, but his inner political obsession drove him to the front. When he and Gilda met in Cambridge, they were both young and innocent. People are the product of time and society. Years of surviving in turmoil have made them mature a lot. The most gratifying thing is that the love in their hearts has never changed. Although Mia came from a humble background with a slight disability, she always believed that returning to the motherland was the final destination. She wanted to go back to Spain, she wanted to be a nurse, and she wanted to do her part.
Guy always felt that when the war was over, he and Gilda could be reunited and live a happy life just like the time when they were creating and taking pictures together; Gilda always felt that it would be wonderful if Mia and Guy could have a child; Mia always felt that Gilda and Guy were the perfect couple and they should have a good time. This kind of open-minded love should be rare by now, right?
No one can escape the torrent of history, no matter how great and no matter how sincere dedication can not resist the big trend. So we can only lament only regret. But fortunately beliefs and feelings are from one to the end. The original intention of watching the movie is just that.
