The suffering of life Since the suffering of
life exists, there is no need to render it.
Poverty, loneliness, guilt, fear, worry, embarrassment, and senile dementia that may come at any time, for an old man in his 60s, this is the suffering that can crush her 10 times at any time, but in Li Cangdong's image But it is an understatement - every time the mountains and rains are about to come, it returns to silence; or the badminton that is like the grandson and grandson slapping each other, back and forth, makes people numb, monotonous but full of every night. The film does not exaggerate suffering, avoids the further extension of dramatic conflict in the narrative, deliberately suppresses emotional fluctuations, constantly eliminates the tendency of cheap sensationalism, and even tries to be as bland as possible in the choice of film language. Compared with Li Cangdong's previous works, Poetry is surprisingly restrained. Almost all the sufferings of life have been weakened into nouns, mixed into daily life, and everything seems to be carrying on the last scene of "Miryang".
The pain
of existence will bear the pain of life as it is.
In the play, Miko faces several choices, atonement, but dare not face it directly; compensation, but the money is shy; fundraising, but at the cost of body and dignity. At the same time, she has to deal with her unfit grandson and the progressive Alzheimer's disease. Poetry has become the only way to feel the beauty of life, but through heart-to-heart communication, in the gathering of poetry friends, I gradually find that poetry is only a tool for others to earn a living and a pastime after dinner; A small notebook to write down inspirations, before the poetry comes, the heavy rain comes first, and the whole body is soaked. Reality is like a cold joke, full of malicious mockery. The pain of life, especially the pain, is not supported by the spirit at the same time as the pain of life.
The beauty of
life The meaning of life lies in the constant search for the meaning of life.
It is a very delicate plot arrangement to make Miko suffer from Alzheimer's disease. For Miko, amnesia allows her to enjoy the beauty of life for a moment. Park Chan-wook's "Old Boy" and Bong Joon-ho's "Mother" also have such designs, but compared to the first two, "Poem" is more natural and ingenious. The scene where Meizi talks to the girl's mother is the sunniest moment in the movie, like "Miryang". In just a few minutes, it was the most moving part of the whole movie. Feeling the beauty of life, life has the meaning of existence, and the dignity of life can appear.
In the film, the teacher said that poetry comes from the heart, and Miko has been searching for the poems in her heart, even if all kinds of burdens keep coming. When I finally had nothing and lost nothing, the poem in my heart finally took shape. It reminds me of "Miryang" again, but "Miryang" is still a little ambiguous, but "Poem" is firm. Under the splicing of the secular scenes at the end of the film, "Poetry" shuttles lightly through it, transforming from a beautiful child to a dead girl, the beauty of life of the living and the deceased equally radiates brilliance, and the river rushes endlessly.
The beauty of life lies in its original color, not in its beauty, and vice versa. I had always thought that Li Cangdong was a pessimistic film poet, but since "Miryang" began to change, as for "Poem", I began to believe that the philosophy of life in Li Cangdong's films is far from simple. Although "Poem" is still full of indifference and hypocrisy, compared with "Oasis", there is no fierce struggle and arrogant attitude of "I am alone in the world", and Li Cangdong has become more tolerant and open-minded towards the world and life.
For Li Cangdong, art comes from life, but ultimately belongs to life.
We should thank Li Cangdong and the movie, because poetry is to Meizi, just as the movie is to Li Cangdong, to you and me.
