Self-reflection of human beings under high technology

To be honest, when I first saw the movie poster, I guessed that the plot was very different from the movie itself. I thought that what the film wanted to express was just to say how the protagonist loves steam engines. It might be an inspirational film, but after watching it, I realized that the connotation that the director wanted to express was quite different—a reflection on human behavior under high technology. The development of science and technology constantly satisfies human's own desires, but also brings human beings to self-destruction. It can be seen that the director describes the film from a different height, and the title expresses its meaning. Compared with the works of masters Hayao Miyazaki and Mamoru Hosoda, the depth of the idea is also very high. It is ironic that the background era chosen by the film is precisely the era of industrial revolution, which is considered by humans to be widely used by steam engines. When we recite the great significance of the industrial revolution, we may have overlooked a point. The steam engine is also a monster. And the desire for transformation, in the future, humans can only surrender to this monster most of the time, although we think we are in charge of it. The event selected a new weapon confrontation between the American consortium and the United Kingdom at the World's Fair held in the United Kingdom. This is understandable. The technological development of the West is far stronger than that of the East, and the confrontation between the old Britain and the emerging United States is also very interesting. In addition, regarding the setting of characters and the arrangement of the plot, the director still showed a high degree of control, the characters are distinct, and the plot is relaxed. And the imagination of all kinds of exaggerated steam troops is wonderful.
