"Murder by Eye"--Americans are also Lutherans?

If you just look at the preview of the film, "Murder with the Eyes" does have a bit of the meaning of the Coen brothers. The subject matter is too biased, the characters are strange enough, the plot is chaotic enough, and it is quite dark and humorous, but it is not.

The film starts with Ivan. The divorced reporter played by McGrey is determined to save face, and the various strange experiences of the former US "special forces" members played by him and Clooney to complete secret missions in Iraq, together with the unknown secret weapons of the US military: a bunch of Great dance!

This really reminds me of the Boxers: as long as you have the will, you are basically invulnerable, killing people invisibly. It is said that with the technological sophistication of US imperialism, it will not make the mistakes of our ancestors 200 years ago. However, it turns out that even in the United States, as long as you can fool around, you can still make others pay. Haven't our merits also made waves in the United States? Maybe when civilization progresses to a certain stage, there will be such illusory spiritual needs.

The film has two lines: one is the Iraqi adventures of Ivan and Clooney, and the other is a flashback to the rise and fall of the secret forces. It's full of satire about the U.S. military. For example: there is a firefight in the film. Every American is a soldier. Seeing that the civilians are like terrorists, they suddenly start a fight. Only after a group is defeated, it is discovered that two American security companies are killing each other. This somewhat reflects part of the reality of Iraq: this battle has resolved a lot of American jobs and GDP, and who really cares about the democracy and freedom of the Iraqi people? The part of the secret army is even more interesting. As the leader, Bill (Jeff Bridges) is almost the same as the qigong masters who were once popular in the land of China: his personal life is chaotic, his mouth is full of trains, but he is full of provocative power. Following him, in addition to being able to eat and eat, you can also train your mind to be very simple, so maybe it won't be that hard. His only opponent is Kevin. Spacey's Larry. This fellow did not say anything, he was full of bad water, and in the end he was killed, and the secret army was also disbanded. Several acting bosses pretended to be crazy and foolish enough to make the movie theater laugh constantly. The part of Clooney dancing and the part of learning "The Dog and the Dog" were very valuable. I personally liked what Ivan and Clooney had to do on the Iraqi road. Clooney's dashing appearance and paranoid demeanor achieve a very ironic and comical effect. I have to admit that recently his vision for film selection is really unique, and what is even more commendable is that he still produces a large amount of films and can be called a model worker.

Compared with the previous irony and surprise, the ending is clichéd. It is nothing more than a few boss gods who made Larry miserable and released Iraqi prisoners of war and war sheep. It can be said that the director wants to use this to whitewash the entire Iraq War, to prove that Americans still have kindness. Or I want to say that the tolerance and perseverance of the United States, like unreliable people like Bill, can also ascend to heaven. In any case, it is very pale, without escaping from the reunion frame of ordinary Hollywood movies, and the countless reflections ahead have been in vain. After all, this isn't a Cohen movie.

    1. A group of good actors, Clooney, Bridges, Spacey... 2. The ending is unfinished, and the ending is too lazy to be the same as some mainland movies... 3. This is not a black humor or a fairy tale, this is a treatment The sequelae of the Vietnam War and the entire counter-cultural movement in the 1960s have told a story like this, which is really awesome.

The English literal translation of "Killing with Eyes" means "men who stare at goats". It is an American proverb that means "just stare at a goat to kill it." The story is really absurd and full of black humor.

The Men Who Stare at Goats quotes

  • Bill Django: [holding daisies while lecturing a room full of Army officers] We are a hollow army, gentlemen. Vietnam has crushed our soul. We have to dream a new America. An America that no longer has an exploitative view of natural resources. No longer promotes consumption at all costs.

Bill Django: But to achieve this dream, we must become the first Superpower to develop super powers. We must create Warrior Monks. Men and women who can fall in love with everyone. Sense plant auras. Pass through walls. Stop saying mindless clichés and see into the future. I want you to join me in this vision. Be all you can be.

  • Lyn Cassady: [plotting their escape] You relax your body and your voice. And you just rip out one of his eyes. Or you get a pen and you stab him in the neck, you create this... a fountain of blood, I mean a real fountain, get it squirting all over his buddies. That is a psychic disincentive, right there.

Bob Wilton: We haven't got a pen.
