This is a real movie

Just watched an old movie, "what dreams may come" translated as: "Dream Come True", also called "Flying Over the Future".

98 old film, starring Robin Williams.

After reading it, I thought that it would be more accurate if it could be translated as: "Where Are the Dreams", or maybe it would be more obscure to call it that?

The film uses beautiful pictures and rich colors to conjure up love and sadness, life and death, heaven and hell; it tells about love, dependence and responsibility in a soothing pace, revealing the inner self and will. tolerate.

The story just ended when the film crew list, the hero and heroine met, fell in love, got married and had children. The sweetness, happiness, beauty, and happiness brought by these have passed in a hurry. Only 3 minutes after the opening, the protagonist's two teenage children both died in a car accident. Listening to the priest in the church saying his final farewell to the deceased, the man with heavy but gentle eyes calmly and powerfully held the weak hand of the sad and self-blaming woman. Seeing this, I understand, this is a heart-wrenching story.

In the next 5 minutes, the subtitle of the film is actually four years later, with a touch of sadness, but a gentle temperament, a male doctor (male pig) who pays attention and love to the people around him, in order to help his beloved wife. (Beautiful, canola flower painter, emotional, seemingly capable but weak female pig) On the way to solve the problem, he died unexpectedly while rescuing a person in a car accident.

When the male protagonist looked for a different line of sight from the past, returned home, and stared at his distraught wife helplessly, when he used caring, comforting, heartache, and unwilling tones, he spoke words that no one answered at all. At that time, I understood that this story has just begun, and this is a story that begins with death.

This sad man is aware of his own death, but also aware that he is not gone. He couldn't bear to let go of his wife, who was shackled by pain, and tried his best to make her feel that he still existed and was still by her side. It's a pity that his wife has been completely drowned in her own pain and hopelessness. Although she can feel his existence, she uses hysteria to deny her own cognition.

This made the male protagonist have to leave his wife's side and come to another space. Here is the upcoming Double D anniversary (decision & divorce is the day when the heroine had a mental breakdown after they lost their child, and the hero took her out of the haze), a scene in an oil painting by a woman for a man, here is The place where they first met and fell in love, this is his Dream House, this is his paradise.

This world is as beautiful as a dream, shrouded in warm rays of light, full of green hope, covered with colorful flowers, with clear lakes in the vicinity, rolling mountain peaks in the distance, warm huts nestled in the water, and The dogs they once died of old age are now young.

When he saw the dog, he said with surprise and joy: oh,yeah, i screwed up, i'm in dog's heaven. At the sight of the scene, he smiled and said to the dog: haha, Mabey, i'm not in your heaven, girl, mabey it's yours and mine Heaven) .

When I heard this, I fell in love with this not-so-handsome male protagonist. That's because, although he lives in his own dream, he does put others in front of him, even if it's a dog.

He saw it in his world when his real wife painted a purple tree in the corner of that canvas. That kind of heart-to-heart feeling is very gratifying, maybe this is what people often call "soulmate". It's a pity that his wife was shaken, washed away the beautiful color with water, and hid back to the gloomy corner of his heart, so the man's world was stormy and the tree withered. Seeing this, I burst into tears.... These tears are not sad for them not being able to stay together, nor regret for their loss, but only because of the loneliness that can't be controlled and helpless.. ......

The male mainstream is connected in this world, although they feel the joy of novelty, but they can't help being lonely and sad. He communicated with people, opened his heart, tasted memories, and found his daughter who died in a car accident four years ago.

His wife was immersed in the pain of her family's death all day long and couldn't extricate herself. She only saw that their love and their love had already left her, so she chose to commit suicide. She didn't even think it was necessary to say goodbye to her dead lover.

However, in his world, she did not appear. She chose to end it all by herself, so her consciousness has ended, and there will be no more unknowns. She entered another dark world. Perhaps, there is what people call hell.

Even so, despite the difficulties, the persistent male protagonist still embarks on the journey of finding his beloved wife. In that hell, what is scary is not the darkness, not the storm, nor the threat of monstrous waves, but the lack of persistent belief in feelings and the loss of lack of firmness in the heart.

On the way, with memory and reflection, understanding and trust, he found his son who died in a car accident many years ago. That is a young man who he always believed, integrity, personality, honesty, gentleness, kindness and bravery.

He continued his search and came to hell. The sight in hell was terrifying, but it made me laugh and feel sad. It turned out that, except that there is no sunlight and no green, it has so many similarities with the human world...

Finally, he finally arrived there, the home that looks like they used to be. But the beauty and warmth are long gone, only the ruins are left, which are about to overturn and collapse. Here is the inner world of his wife.

She no longer recognizes him, and no longer has the fond memories of them being together. She refused to believe everything he said, refused to hold his hand out to her.

So he decided to give up, give up and go back to his own paradise. He decided to stay with her. He said to her: We want to be together, stay together where we belong. Good people go to hell because they can't forgive themselves. I won't, but I can forgive you. You are so beautiful, so beautiful that I would rather stay in hell to accompany you...

So, the male protagonist did not disappoint everyone again. He awakened his wife from the hopeless nothingness... (At least this ending is very healing)

In the film, there are two dialogues between the husband and his wife, both of which are so touching, I take the gist of it excerpted.

In the male protagonist's recollection, shortly after the loss of the child, the wife blamed herself for not driving to deliver the child in person, causing the death of the child and a mental breakdown.
The male protagonist's persuasion reminded me of the "mushroom" story.
He said: I can't help you, if it goes on like this, I choose to leave. Maybe other people think that your self-blame is a kind of pathological, but I think, maybe those thoughts, since they exist, maybe they are true. I know I have my faults too, but not because I am there to remind you of these pains, but because I have left you and cannot bear this fault with you. I beg you, don't give up, okay? ...in the end he finally persuaded her.
In hell, when he persuaded his wife for the second time, he said: It was not her fault, it was his fault, it was he who was using his strength to avoid pain, but cut off the only connection with his wife, and sometimes got That is to lose.

There are so many more evocative dialogues in this film......

so, if u aware where u exist, then u do. it's why u still here.
we've seen what we chose to see.
thought is real, phisical is illusion.
but, we don't have to break heart to love somebody.

At the end of the film, they seem to give up that shared paradise again and reincarnate. When they were younger, they met again...

Is the director telling us that all of this was just a spiritual journey?

What Dreams May Come quotes

  • Chris Nielsen: Thank you for every kindness. Thank you for our children. For the first time I saw them. Thank you for being someone I was always proud to be with. For your guts, for your sweetness. For how you always looked, for how I always wanted to touch you. God, you were my life. I apologize for everytime I ever failed you. Especially this one...

  • Chris Nielsen: There's a man Ian never got to know, the man he was growing up to be. He's a good-looking clear-eyed fella... about 25. I can see him. He's the type of guy men want to be around, because he has integrity, you know ? He has character. You can't fake that. And he's a guy women want to be around, too. Because there's tenderness in him... respect... and loyalty, and courage. And women respond to that. Makes him a terrific husband, this guy. I see him as a father. That's where he really shines. See, when he looks in his kid's eyes and that kid knows that his dad really, really sees him... he sees who he is. Then that child knows that he is an amazing person. He's quite a guy... that I'll never get to meet. I wish I had.
