death should be respected

At the beginning of this film, I thought it would be like the similar films I have seen before, that Matthew was wronged, and it was a matter of judicial process. It was not until the end, when Matthew was about to be executed, that he admitted that he had indeed made an unforgivable mistake. This may be what Sister Helen is pleased with.
No matter how sinful a person is, when he realizes his mistake when he is dying, then he deserves the least respect, respect for life.
There is a very thought-provoking part of the film. Before his execution, Matthew said that he had done a very wrong thing, made a big mistake to the young couple, like the death penalty, maybe the government made a mistake.
We always have to fight a tooth for a tooth and a smoke for an eye, but can this kind of violence punishing violence solve the problem? Perhaps comforting the victim's heart will make them feel more comfortable. But can hatred be healed with a violent punishment?
There is no doubt that a death row prisoner brutally murdered two young people. However, is this a complete denial of this person? ? The film also features Matthew's relationship with his mother. Except for his mistakes, he is no different from others.
And death, whether it is normal death or accidental death, as a process that life must go through, should be respected like life. When a life comes into this world, people rejoice; when a life leaves this world, people grieve. This is all a procedure, must go through. But for death, we have too many gray impressions. Of course, it does not mean that we should treat death with a happy mood, but we should respect the departure of an individual.
As Sister Helen said to Matthew in the film, I hope the last thing you see before you die is a face full of love.
