follow, nolan

Note, there are spoilers.

"Following" is Nolan's debut, but it came to the end in the order of my viewing of his works. I just finished it and got up to write something to show off that I was a movie audience who was fortunate enough to be born in the era of Christopher Nolan. This is not only a film review of this film, but also my feelings about Nolan's other works by the way.

In the first few minutes of watching the movie, I thought that if I were to translate it, I would set the Chinese translation name as "End Line". These two words are very consistent with the hero's temperament and his description of his behavior, and when people of our age see these two words, they must be a tiger's body and a chrysanthemum. Stay focused. However, after watching the whole film, I think it is more appropriate to follow the name. He is more suitable to describe the relationship between the hero and the Cobb who put him together.

I heard people say that "Memento" was born out of this film. When I saw the black and white pictures of this film, I felt a sense of intimacy. This movie is not like "Memento" and "Deadly Magic", which makes you want to jump out of your chair at the end, and then pace around the room thinking about the film's plot and then sit back and replay it. The impulse to do it again, the first two are like large-scale magic tricks like changing the living, this one is just changing coins or playing cards. Although the movement is not big, it also gives people enough surprises. There are more and more people making movies these days, many of them come up with a novel and good theme with a slap of their heads, and then start to shoot, and finally find that they have no ability to control this theme (this is already quite sincere). Filmmakers, more people don't care about what they are shooting at all, they only care about whether they can cheat the audience's money), but Nolan first confirms that he has the ability to control any subject, and then uses his magical Imagination comes true. The inspiration for this debut film is that Nolan's home was stolen. The subject matter is very simple, but because of the director's superb storytelling skills, this simple film exudes a good brilliance. With enough ability to tell a story well, any movie will not be ugly.

I couldn't help laughing when I saw the Batman logo on the host's door. I don't know if Nolan had foreseen at this time that ten years later, he would take a billion-dollar box office with a Batman movie and gain huge movie power. Most of the main creators of "Following" are amateurs, and several of the protagonists are members of the university drama club, and the main scenes in the play also borrowed the residences of the main creators (including Nolan's parents' home). The actor's room with the Batman logo on the door is the actor's own house. It is said that at that time the director and actors could only get together for filming on Saturdays every week, so it took a year of intermittent filming to complete the filming. Since then, Nolan's momentum has been out of control. The vague Batman logo on the black and white film that was pasted on the door, the logo with a history of decades, but it has been dusty on the screen for several years, in several Years later, Nolan's hands re-released light, illuminating the night sky of Gotham City, and causing countless audiences, especially Batman fans, to cheer.

When I was young, I just bought a VCD at home. At that time, I only had one set of DVDs, which was "Batman and Robin". Are you Batman fans starting to get chills down your spine? At that time, I had to go home and watch this movie every day after school. Until then, I thought the movie was pretty cool. Only later did I find out that this was the worst of the four Batman movies at that time, because of it, no one touched the subject of Batman for nearly ten years... Later, I gradually became less enthusiastic about these movies based on American comics, and felt that it was a routine. are almost the same. Until 2008, I occasionally watched "Iron Man" and felt a little fresh, so I found "The Incredible Hulk" and "The Dark Knight" that were also released in the summer vacation that year. It turns out that The Dark Knight obviously doesn't taste the same as the first two (and, of course, not just because the originals are from a different comic company).

So "The Dark Knight" was the first Nolan work I saw, but I didn't know at the time and didn't care who the director was. Someone asked me what I thought of the movie, and I just said, Joker is great. When I took a foreign teacher's class, I was stupid and naive and said to the foreign teacher "He is a good actor." "Was." The foreign teacher corrected me. Then I learned that the American actor Heath Ledger who died of an overdose of sleeping pills mentioned in the noon news the other day was my favorite Joker.

The three words "sleeping pills" remind me of Nolan's other work "Insomnia", which is "Chasing the Murderer in the White Night". In fact, this movie can be regarded as the least interesting of Nolan's movies. During the summer vacation, because inception could not be released simultaneously, I released this film to quench my thirst. Although there are veteran actor Al Pacino and Robin Williams, who I like very much, but because it is neither suspenseful nor dazzling, it feels a bit like boiled water to me, just my personal opinion, I hope you like this movie people don't take offense.

The second Nolan movie I watched was "Deadly Magic". This movie had a great influence on me. My own movie viewing taste was basically shaped by it, and suspense movies have since become my favorite. Love (but the output of good suspense films is too low, and the more suspense films I watch, the higher the expectations and the harder it is to meet them, so now in terms of the number of watching, superhero films are more important to me).

That year, Mr. Liu Wan, a well-known magician in China, performed on CCAV and drove the magic fever. I also joined in the fun, learned a little magic (now I have forgotten all about it), and watched a movie related to magic. . After getting down, I found that the two protagonists of the film are still my favorites. As mentioned, I watched The Dark Knight, got to know Christian Bale, and learned that he was going to be in Terminator 4, which made me pay more attention to him. To add here, the Terminator is the most influential of the few American Empire films I watched when I was young, so another important reason why I like "Batman and Robin" may also be that there are governors in it. Speaking of "Deadly Magic", another protagonist, Hugh Jackman, just watched his "Wolverine" and "Australia" that year, and saw him in the film by accident, and felt very cordial. Favorite actors and favorite subjects prompted me to watch "Deadly Magic". To be honest, the first part made me feel like it was just a biopic of a magician with a special narrative technique. However, when I saw the second half, I had to admire it. The plot and editing of this film is so awesome, and the person who wrote this story and told it is a genius. The movie itself is a magic trick, and since then, I have regarded "Deadly Magic" as a model of suspense film, if it meets his three basic steps of magic, it is a good movie, otherwise it is shit. So it's not hard to see why I don't like movies like Memories of Murder and Zodiac. Since then I have remembered Christopher Nolan's name, and Tesla by the way.

Accidentally found that the director also filmed Batman, and then went to download the mystery of Xia Yingying, and also downloaded a piece of Nolan's memory by the way.

One night I killed thirteen mosquitoes, but the buzzing didn't stop, so I gave up sleep, turned on the computer, and started watching "Mystery of the Shadow" to survive the long night. In fact, I like this more than "The Dark Knight" because it is not as depressing as the former. Kind of like a martial arts novel. After watching this movie, I was completely sleepy and decided to watch "Memento". Before watching Memento, I believed that "Deadly Magic" was the best movie I could see in my life, but after watching "Memento", I felt that it was not only beautiful, but magical and incredible. And this turned out to be Nolan's second film, when he was just 30 years old.

So within that year, I saw four of the six Nolan films that had been released at the time, and I couldn't stop each one. At that time, I also thought about downloading "Chasing the Murderer in the White Night", but I didn't succeed. It was not until a year later that the evaluation of this movie was mentioned earlier.

The sixth is the much-anticipated "Inception". There's been a lot of people talking about it lately, and I don't need to add more compliments, just a little bit. Many people are recommending movies similar to "Inception", and it is inevitable to mention "Memento". I don't understand a bit. I think the most similar Nolan's previous works to "Inception" should be "Deadly Magic".

I saw a film review from a foreign friend before, saying that "Inception" is actually about the film industry, and the Inception team is equivalent to the film production team. I feel this is more convincing. And "Deadly Magic" also reflects the filming of the film in other themes - making a film is like magic. Nolan is a good magician and a good dream maker. We are immersed in his dreams and cannot extricate ourselves.

I watched "Following" today, and I felt that, in fact, I am very much like the hero in the movie. I peeped into other people's lives through the movie, and I became a follower of others unconsciously. I don't know if I have fallen into the same situation as the hero. The abyss is doomed.

Finally, the personal ranking of Nolan's films, which only represents personal opinions:

1. Inception

2. Memento

3. Deadly Magic 4. The

Dark Knight 5.

Batman: Mystery of the Shadow
