Jarmusch is too good (Mystery Train)

It is normal for an American independent film director without the exaggeration and sensationalism of Hollywood blockbusters, but it is too abnormal without homosexuality, drug addiction, and violence.

I am amazed that an American independent film director has such a flat narrative, no psychedelics, no exaggeration, emotional restraint, and calmness.

The three events and three groups of characters that happened in that little hotel in Memphis are dramatic and true to life. At the same time, different stories of joys and sorrows are taking place in this world, and they are connected with each other, but the parties may not know it.

The first is a couple of music fans from Japan. They worshipped their idol (like Elvis Presley) in Memphis. But in the place of the idol, they were not happy. The loss and loss in the boy's eyes were real and cruel. Their lovemaking ended abruptly when the girl complained about the boy's beard stinging her, and it was really unsexy.

The second one met a man who approached her in a restaurant and told her a story about Elvis, but not to date her, but to sell her a comb for twenty yuan. When she walked out of the restaurant, two men followed her (it seemed to be the man who told the story just now), she came to the small hotel in a hurry, and bumped into a woman who was leaving, and the woman had no money to stay in the hotel. And was kicked out. The woman kindly invited the woman to share a room with her. They happened to live next door to the Japanese man and woman, and heard the sound of their making love, and then Elvis' songs on their radio. This woman left her Elvis-like boyfriend in the morning, and she still loves him.

The third is three men. One of them was the woman's boyfriend, who had been drinking in the pool room and carrying a gun because his girlfriend had left. A friend called the woman's brother, and the three left together. In front of a supermarket, the car broke down, and the owner was arguing with the owner when buying alcohol. The woman's boyfriend shot the owner, and then the three fled to a small hotel, also living next door to the Japanese men and women. In the morning, the woman's boyfriend wanted to commit suicide, and the woman's brother was accidentally shot in the leg while grabbing a gun. Then escaped from the hotel.

The Japanese man and woman left on the same train as the woman, while police were chasing three fugitives.

The narrative is clever and serious, tense and respectful of the original ecology of life.

Jiamusu is really amazing.
