Am I a runner-up?

This is a story about a child in an Iranian slum.
My brother accidentally lost his sister's only pair of shoes when he was going to help his sister repair her shoes. And parents who can't even pay the rent can't afford to buy another pair.
The elder brother also only has a pair of worn-out sneakers, but at this time he can only share it with his younger sister. From then on, the two brothers and sisters can only complete the relay of a pair of shoes in non-stop running.

This is a simple story, pure and pure, just like watching Wang Xiaoshuai's "Seventeen-Year-Old Bicycle". People are different and encounters are different, but the backgrounds are similar to some extent:
both countries are rapidly modernizing During the process, there are many high-rise buildings, and high-rise areas are high-rise. I remember that there was an article describing the Beijing overpass in the previous Chinese textbook. The pride of an educated child is even patriotic. But if you look at this article now, or show it to today's children, they'll say that the person who wrote this article must be a country boy who hasn't seen the world.
Then a kid from the countryside in Guangdong would interject: Definitely not, our countryside is full of overpasses!
Modernization is unstoppable and should not be stopped, but the society is often deliberately forgetting those who have no time or ability to modernize themselves. The unit price per square meter of the sky-high residential buildings in Beijing and Shanghai is the income of the bottom income earners living in these cities for many years or more.

Back in Iran, the wealth of this country is born from oil, this country is very rich, and oil is cheaper than water for a long time. Putting aside the so-called ideology, oil has created a lot of wealth for this country, but the wealth of this country has flowed into the hands of bureaucrats and elites like China. The glass curtain wall reflects the hot sun of Iran, while the reflection is The underlying living conditions behind the blank eyes of slum children. The large luxury villa area in the north of the city tells you that there are some people in this society that are really different from your living conditions. In this society, there are a group of people who do not need to work but can enter and leave shopping malls and hotels during your working hours. and entertainment. And you can only go through here on a bicycle without brakes, and maybe fall down.

With the guilt of losing his sister's shoes, Ali wanted to buy a pair of shoes for his sister, so he participated in a long-distance running competition. The prize for the third place in the competition was a pair of sneakers, so he had to get the third place. This is what he did to his sister. Promise, he can't run first, let two people run first, but can't let the third person overtake him. But in the end, he won the first place, but he was not happy, because the first place did not have sneakers, but a free summer camp vacation with no real temptation for him.
Although the women of this country all dress uniformly: robes and headscarves. But can unity in the name of religion mask differences in real economic reality? Obviously not, not even in Iran where Islamic teachings are strictly practiced. So some people can wear sports clothes that are expensive for Ali to compete, while some parents take pictures and take pictures of their children, but Ali has never seen these things, but he can only think of one thing in his heart, must be To get third place, you must have a pair of shoes.

The film conveys a deep sense of loss to me. There are too many scenes with too many contrasts. This is completely absent in the first half of the film. What we can see is the old city of a city, and the living conditions of the residents in the old city are not good. Well, the father of the girl with the shoes that her sister envied was just a blind peddler (and her sister tried to steal the shoes). But as soon as the plot arrives when Ali goes to the north of the city with his father, everything changes, and the disparity within the same society is strongly revealed. Then there is the contrast between the poor and the rich, the upper and the lower layers in almost every shot.

Perhaps faith has allowed Ali's father who has a bad temper to maintain a good sense of morality, and the white sugar in the temple is reluctant to take a little privately. I believe that Allah will find a way to deal with the annoying landlord. But in the whole big environment, such a trivial individual can only silently adhere to the dust in the gap of history, and it will disappear if ignored. Just like the boy in "Seventeen-Year-Old Bicycle", he hugged the bicycle desperately, as if it was his whole life. His dreams of the city were attached to this bike, and all the city gave him was to send a ruthless gangster to steal it and resell it, which is the reality.

When the game was over, Ali asked: Am I the third runner-up?
For Ali, the champion and the runner-up have no value, in the state of existence he is in. In his state of existence, all he needs is a pair of boots that keep him from running fearlessly. And perhaps it was these runs that made him a champion.

This is not an inspirational movie, nor is it an inspiring tragedy, but it reminds us that it seems that many people are beginning to forget, consciously forgetting those years when they went to school in torn socks.
