lion in cornfield

Similar to BIG FISH, very full, but more compact than the big fish story. The ending design of the film is even better than the blue - "Are they realy alive?" asked by the little boy of the grandson of the wealthy chief.
Something isn't true, that's no reason that you can't believe in ti.
Sometimes the things that may or may not be true, are the things that a man needs to believe in the most.
That people are basically good. The honour ,courage and virtue man everything.
The kid and the lion in the cornfield make the whole film emotional.

Haley Joel Osment's splayed eyebrows, Michael Caine's gentlemanly demeanor, Robert Duvall's heroic combat. Some of them are pretty cute. What seems unbelievable can be believed. Human nature is good.

The storyline is actually very old-fashioned, but I really like this kind of humorous, warm and childhood memories of the movie, especially the two old men Michael Caine and Robert Duvall playing together~so cute~

Secondhand Lions quotes

  • Frankie: Hey, who do you think you are, huh?

Garth: Just a dumb kid, Hub. Don't kill him.

    Hub: [to Garth] Right.

    [grabs Frankie by the throat]

Hub: I'm Hub McCann. I've fought in two World Wars and countless smaller ones on three continents. I led thousands of men into battle with everything from horses and swords to artillery and tanks. I've seen the headwaters of the Nile, and tribes of natives no white man had ever seen before. I've won and lost a dozen fortunes, KILLED MANY MEN and loved only one woman with a passion a FLEA like you could never begin to understand. That's who I am. NOW, GO HOME, BOY!

  • Garth: [after Walter leaves] Salesman should be by in about three, four hours.

    Hub: Whoop-de-do.
