I've always been in love with movies that last forever, and this one is not one of the best. It's just the elegant British accent, the charming country scenery, and the melodious piano tunes that give this story a romantic vibe from start to finish. Maybe it's because of the people I watch it with that make me fall in love with this drama so much. At first glance, the heroine Eleanor is not very beautiful. She seemed to have no joy and no sorrow. According to the title, it seems that she only has reason and no emotion. Facing Edward, who loves deeply but can't show her love to herself, she hides her love in her heart; when she misses her lover deeply in a distant place, she is still so calm, compared with Marianne's great joy and great sorrow in love. When she got up, she looked too ruthless. Even if her mother couldn't bear to send a letter inviting Edward to come, she insisted, "Don't make him have to come to visit." When a woman suddenly tells her the secret of her engagement to Edward four years ago, Ellie Nuoqiang suppressed his surprise and didn't tell anyone. When the whole world knew that her unrequited love was desperate, her sister Marianne asked her "Aren't you in love with Edward?" She finally couldn't help crying. Her feelings are so delicate and rich, how can she be indifferent, and which girl is her love shallower than that? It's just that in the face of all this, what can she do but remain silent. She said she admired Edward even more because of the way he did things. So she suppressed her emotions. From beginning to end, she did not cause trouble to her lover, and did not strive for her own happiness. She maintained her own elegance and her lover's nobility. When Edward rushes to Eleanor to propose marriage at the end of the film, I see another Eleanor. In that moment, she completely released her emotions. I knew she would win the most beautiful ending.
I really like the line at the end of the film when Marianne comes home "Colonel Brandon is a very good man. What grief he went through, he stayed true to his first love, even if someone else took her away. Even after her death. I think that's the real romance. It doesn't matter what we think or say, it matters what we do. And we don't do it."
