11-year-old Ally, subway station, a murder. The shooting at the beginning of the movie, as real, as brutal, as could happen to any of us, happens on schedule. As expected, an accident. But we all know, who wouldn't have such an accident in their life? Ally lost her mother. And leather-clad detective Neil, at the pinnacle of his career, lost his wife.
"Lost", at the very beginning of the film, the director reveals its unpredictability to us with a real, almost brutal lens.
This is also the theme that is shared by the main characters of the whole film.
Those who were terrified should all cry. At least, I cried.
I understand the helplessness in life. I don't blame the two criminals, the questioning and panic in their eyes were clearly recorded by the director. It's just that this kind of harm between people is really painful. So we have to be on guard and live with care. I remember going to Yantai to look at the sea a few days ago. I wanted to find a clean and vast sea by myself, so I took the No. 17 bus to the desolate Laishan District. There, I found a sea called Dongbozi, with rough and romantic stone piers, fishing boats, and clean sandy beaches. There were no tourists, only migrant workers' houses temporarily built by some construction companies in the distance. I walked for a long time by myself, picking up some rocks and shells, and then suddenly found myself lost on the way back to the highway, so I had to go to one of the row of migrant workers to ask someone. There were a few big men lying in the room, shirtless and smoking a cigarette. I didn't dare to open the door to go in. At this moment, a dark-faced migrant worker walked up to me and asked me what was going on. I quickly asked in a thick voice: " How can I get to the bus?" He pointed to a dirt road next to him. I said thank you and quickly turned around and left.
I just didn't dare to think about those scenarios, terrible scenarios, it was like Alley's mother was aware of the danger around her in the subway. It's just that I'm more fortunate. Get out before possible danger.
"Losing" is cruel and unpredictable. Because there are too many potential dangers around us, from people and things, from the so-called elusive destiny.
【 Ten years later & Tyler and Ally 】
Tyler's appearance seems to disappoint everyone, especially those who watched "Twilight" before watching this film, his image with our vampire prince Edward Far from it. To be honest, when he first appeared, I couldn't believe that the protagonist of this film was such a person, such an ordinary, ordinary person. His image is sloppy and negative. He loves to smoke. When he smokes, his eyes dodge and his body curls up. Like all addicts, his face is pathetic. There is a passage which is a monologue of Tyler's words to his brother Michael, at this time we can't read who Michael is from those words, but we can see Tyler's helplessness: "At the age of 22, Gandhi had three children. As a child, Mozart wrote 30 symphonies, but..." He was so ordinary that he would lament his mediocrity. Even his rich dad plot doesn't get us to give him more princely grades, stuff that doesn't seem to have anything to do with him. He doesn't care, at all.
He's like most of us, kind, sensitive, and on the subway, the corners of his mouth will be raised slightly because of a cute old clown asleep. He will be moved by the details of life. (Although he bears huge pain in his heart)
Tyler's family relationship is very complicated, but the suspense left by the director very skillfully, only gives some vaguely recognizable fragments, let us explore and experience slowly. Perfect. Good tea is always tasted slowly.
And then... the storyline begins to unfold slowly. After growing up, Ally is very wise, independent, and knows how to protect herself, but she is eager to break free from her father's strong protection, and eager to stimulate and challenge. These characteristics can be derived from many details, from her lectures in class, to her first conversation with Tyler.
Well, the image analysis of the protagonist is here, back to my theme: loss.
[Loss]
Different people have different experiences and different losses, thus leaving scars in their hearts. Or, hurt by feeling like we've lost something (sometimes what we want to get doesn't exist or come in the form we expect).
Ally lost her mother at the age of 11.
Neil lost his wife. Only the only daughter left.
Tyler lost his older brother, a complete family, and a normal fatherly love.
Caroline, my favorite little sister, feels the loss of her father's love. Because of her talent, she lost her friendly social circle (of course, it's not her own fault, it's those nasty little girls... hum~).
Tyler's dad, the mighty father who thinks he's done everything for the kids, has lost the warmth of home. The paintings Caroline painted for him, he only replied: Put it on the table. It is extremely rational and cold. But Tyler saw the saddest part about him: You have a daughter who sincerely believes that you don't like her . It's a sharp knife that sticks in his heart.
Different people have different reactions and attitudes towards loss.
Ally, the experience of losing her mother when she was young made her strong, independent, and wise. She knows how to grasp something and is eager to try something to avoid unexpected accidents and losses in life. Just like, she likes to eat dessert first, she chooses to grasp Live with a boy who feels right.
Neil, the character that hurts me the most (he reminds me of his own father), he's actually a vulnerable man because of the huge blow of losing his wife, his care for his daughter, protection, like an airtight Wall, although he understands that when his daughter grows up, there are some things he can't interfere with, but he can't restrain his fears. He is afraid of losing his daughter. The middle-aged him already had obvious beer belly, white hair and wrinkles, but after Ally didn't return overnight, the serious quarrel between him and her, those words, those scenes, made our hearts hurt when we were young and frivolous. Unstoppable, as if I saw myself and my father, the words between myself and my father that hurt how deeply hurt, my father's slap, and my father's old age. Neil is old and his heart is broken. He suffered no less pain than Tyler. In the face of loss, his response is to cling to the precious things he has and use almost harsh protection to avoid loss.
Tyler, he's lost a lot. Even self-confidence counts. Like I said before, Tyler is an ordinary person through and through, but he is the soul of the whole show. Until the end, we found out that it is this guy who doesn't like to talk much, and is always silent or decadent because of his inner pain. Or impulsive ordinary people, that changed everything.
He was too sensitive, too kind, too caring, too self-respecting, too stupid. Having lost his beloved brother, he will remember it for the rest of his life. He will always go back to that cafe and write to his brother. He believes that Michael can hear him. Losing a complete family, he does not fight or make trouble, respects the choice of his parents, blesses his mother who has rebuilt a new home, and cares about his dear sister as always. Losing the warmth of his father's love is palpable. Facing the cold and powerful father, he has self-esteem and refuses his help. He fell in love with Ally and didn't want to deceive her. He was honest like a fool. When he lost Ally, he still did not fight or make trouble. Some things belong to you, and you won't lose them easily. Especially love, because once the relationship is connected, it is difficult to cut off, deception, betrayal, all things, explain clearly, the hurt will pass, we will embrace love again, and the right person. Tyler is really simple. His sister was bullied by the girls in his class. He would only use violence to solve problems. His father didn't participate in his sister's art exhibition. Some of the most unadorned and engineered ways to express your dissatisfaction and wake up those who don't realize what they've lost. He knows best what is precious.
At the end of the story, when everything improved and everyone seemed to understand what they should cherish and how to express their love, another accident happened - "9•11". Everyone, lost Tyler. The silent camera records their expressions, especially Tyler's dad's expression. I have to say that his acting skills are really good, and he is indeed my favorite 007 actor. Like~ And the brave Ally in the subway station, I only found out at the end that her eyes really look like her mother. Like blooming little stars, sky blue and sparkling.
In my eyes, this is actually not a romance film, it is a deeper exploration of the theme of "loss" (of course, it is only my opinion), and its real protagonist is only Tyler. He changed everything, and he made us realize "loss" more deeply. His departure was another accident. The 9 • 11 events that shocked the world made the theme of the whole story extremely broad. At the end of the story, Tyler stood in front of the window and looked out, full of good hope, and then the camera zoomed out, we saw the Pentagon from the outside, and saw countless windows, behind the windows were countless ordinary people, countless different paragraphs. Life experience, a 9·11 accident, made Ally, Caroline... All the characters in the film lost Tyler, and countless people lost their relatives and friends, each of them has its own story, all are trying to live, looking forward to a better life .
But had to face this unpredictable "loss". This is an inescapable topic in life,
Tyler has left, but Caroline and his father have reunited, Aidan is more hard-working, Ally is more courageous and strong. It was Tyler who gave them these changes and made them know how to cherish life and the precious people and things around them. He taught us how to face the unpredictable "losses" in life: learn to cherish.
Remember me. Remember me, who is the ME? Is that what Tyler said to Ally? Or, all around us, whether we realize it or not, those precious things that may be lost at any time are whispering to us softly: Remember me. Don't lose me.
[Love]
Westerners The concept of love is very different from ours, so I felt that the plot arrangement was a bit abrupt in some places at first, but I can understand and accept it the second time.
Because of the cultural differences between the East and the West, I don't think I have the right to say how wonderfully this film, which seems to focus on Tyler and Ally, interprets love. I'm just, in the shoes of all the characters, trying to understand them, to understand what Ally and Tyler mean to each other.
Knowing and starting a relationship because of mutual admiration (Aidan's intrigue is only a small part of the factor), small details that make us feel their mutual attraction to each other, especially when Ally goes to Tyler's house for the first time. The story, the emotion of preparing dessert in advance, the scene “ you get me all wet ” is cheap , but use the soup is absolutely amazing , Hah ~ So, Ally is really a very different girl. Tyler can see it. "Nope?" I like that expression. hehe. The development between them is doomed. Because they are right for each other.
Furthermore, they both have deep hurts in each other's hearts, so in addition to some mutual attraction in their personalities and interests, their relationship is more dependent. Tyler is dependent on Ally, she is the best antidote for his pain, can soothe his heart, give him strength and hope.
I feel that some of the expressions of their feelings, including scenes and soundtracks, are very similar to "Twilight"... a style.
For me, it feels a little far away, and I can understand and appreciate it to some extent, but... I still feel a little weird. hehe.
After all, love has many shapes. I watched Hunan Satellite TV's "8090" two days ago, and some seemingly vulgar romance novels actually happened in reality. When the protagonists appeared on stage, I was still moved by them. Nor is it a paranoid critique of such emotional experiences. The world is very big, and everyone has their own wonderful things. Just live real.
【 At Last 】
"Remember me" is really a great movie, worth watching. However, maybe because I was still young, there were too few things that I realized when I saw it for the first time. I really sat down, read it, and realized it again, and then I wrote these things, and then I gradually felt what the director wanted to express. The same is true of "Up in the air" before.
The college entrance examination is over, and it’s a holiday. Watching movies seems to be a compulsory course. However, it’s better to compare the quality rather than the quantity. Look at the ideas and gains of one and the other, and write while thinking about it, form my own view and defend my opinion. This time I write It's too long, hehe, I should refine the language in the future. Well, work hard. Develop yourself, Jovi. Night ~
