"Huxley was not anti-Semitic, the Nazis were clearly wrong against the Jews, but this hatred was not without reason, it was just unreal, it was imaginary, and the reason — fear. Let's put the Jews aside for a moment, Think of another kind of minority, the minority that can be ignored if necessary. There are many kinds of the minority, such as blonde hair, and freckles, but the minority is considered as a whole only if it poses some kind of threat to the majority, whether real or Imaginary threats, and hidden in it is fear. If the minority among the people is transparent, the fear will be stronger, that is why the minority is persecuted, so there is always a reason, and the reason is fear. The minority is only human, you People like me.”

“Fear is our real enemy after all, fear of taking over our world, fear of being used as a tool to manipulate our society, used by politicians to sell policy, and Madison Avenue to sell goods we don’t need , think about it, fear that we will be attacked, fear that the specter of communism roams every street corner, fear of a small Caribbean country that threatens us because of our different values, fear of black culture dominating the world, fear of Elvis Presley's hippie music, Maybe I should be afraid of this. I'm afraid that bad breath will ruin our friendship, I'm afraid of getting old and single, I'm afraid that we are wasting time and everyone cares about what we say."

Actually, I prefer the second half~

How can there be such a good movie.

Even the fear of hiding in the outside world is still dominated by loneliness. And single men reflect the absurd symptoms of Cold War psychopaths. The imagery is exquisitely crafted and impeccable. Uncle Colin's dance with Moore and the seaside frolic with Holt made the best reverse lyric. The whole film also focuses on feeling rather than thinking. Moore's twisted brows in the vanity mirror echo the rounded buttocks in Nocturnal Animals. Please TF stick to such formal aesthetics.

A Single Man quotes

  • George: There's no such thing as old anymore. The other day, one of my students called me a senior citizen.

Charley: I wouldn't mind if old didn't exist. But I'm not sure that senior is what I'm aiming for, either.

  • George: It's all becoming so bland. That's not why I came to America. It's like a complete breakdown of culture and manners.

Charley: The young ones have no manners. The other day at the car wash, a young man looked me up and down and asked me if I was a natural blonde.

    George: What did you say?

Charley: I looked him straight in the eye and said, "Let's just say, if I stood on my head, I would be a natural brunette with lovely breath."
