Here, DEPP plays the detective very different from the brash, timid novice in Sleepy Hollow, who is composed, sophisticated, cautious, fearless, and, more importantly, melancholic and mysterious. Originally, the play was not that good, and there was not much subtlety to be discovered under the horror packaging, but Depp's superb performance added a lot to it.
