Ip Man

My good friend Ning Caishen really likes "Ip Man", and naturally he also likes "Ip Man 2". This is good for my movie selection, because as long as it is a martial arts movie he likes, I definitely don't need to watch it. It's also an old monster born in the 70s. I know exactly what he likes, and because of this, I don't like it.

Being born in the 1970s means that in the mid to late 1980s until the early 1990s, one's adolescence must be met with kung fu. I haven't read "Wulin", at least I have read "Sanshou and Wushu" magazines. When I was very young, I knew inexplicable words such as stance, inch strength, and bridge hand. Most of the kung fu films that Ning Caishen likes are because of the so-called "real kung fu" in them, which means that when an old man was sitting in the cinema, a bridge player suddenly appeared. He understood it, he recalled it, and he was satisfied. There was another mid-lane attack. He saw the top, middle and bottom three sets moving in unison, punching and kicking a line in the middle. He understood again, he recalled it again, and he was satisfied again. Therefore, his so-called "good" should be understood in his context, and it may not be the kind of "good" that the post-80s and post-90s like.

There was really no film to watch this afternoon, so I went to see "Ip Man 2". Looking at it, I think Ning Caishen will definitely like it, so what is my attitude? you guess?

Since there is no plot to speak of, "Ip Man 2" does not have any concerns about spoilers. I am going to finish it in one sentence: Ip Man went to Hong Kong to make a living in 1950. At that time, there was a British boxer "tornado" who disdained Chinese martial arts. Master Hong (Hong Jinbao), who killed Hong Quan in the ring, Ip Man defeated the tornado on behalf of Wing Chun and won dignity for the Chinese martial arts world. What surprised me was that when Ip Man played by Donnie Yen defeated the tornado, there were warm applause and cheers in the cinema.

Clap for what? I think the director's control of the audience's emotions has always been very good, and it can be freely retracted. For a person like me who is full of emotion, often the camera is darkened, the music is changed, and before the heroine's eyes flicker, my nose is already sore, and tears are swirling in my eyes. With that in mind, I often need to analyze where my emotions come from. In "Ip Man 2", I also feel excited, based on the following lines:

1. The film suggests that the white British inspector behind the tornado despises the Chinese, which makes me uncomfortable.
2. Tornado released a lot of arrogant and ruthless remarks and dismissed Chinese martial arts, which made me feel very uncomfortable.
3. When the tornado killed Sammo Hung alive, every punch was in slow motion, which made him die extremely tragically, which made me feel very uncomfortable.
4. Under the circumstance that Ip Man has the upper hand, the jury revised the rules so that Ip Man was not allowed to use his legs, but only his hands, which made me feel very uncomfortable.

Under the above unpleasant circumstances, Ip Man hit the tornado with his bare hands until his nose was bruised and his face was swollen, and he fell into a coma. Naturally, I felt refreshed and shivered. However, after I instantly understood the emotional foreshadowing above, I felt an unprecedented disgust for the director. Because he's trying to control me with this cheap thing to produce the results he wants, how can that be?

Looking back over the past thirty years, I spent a small part of my time being educated in school. I don't want to judge the pros and cons of this kind of education, but I want to point out one thing: what I have been trying to get rid of over the years is the kind of self-inflicted, oppressed, and victimized complex that comes from education. The book has always emphasized that the world around us is hostile to us, and that many countries have bullied us in history. And our country is so beautiful, the people are so nice, so beautiful and so beautiful that the world can't help but covet us and take advantage of us. In short, they are not at ease and look down on us from the bottom of their hearts. Therefore, we must teach them a lesson, so that they will dispel their evil thoughts and look up to us.

Ten years after entering the online world, I finally realized that this kind of education is to make us small. You have chrysanthemums, I have chrysanthemums, and everyone has chrysanthemums. However, the chrysanthemum has a special meaning for Xiaoshou, because he feels that everyone wants to explode his chrysanthemum, so he is very nervous. After being nervous for a long time, things never happened, so his heart changed and he became very anxious: Why hasn't anyone attacked me yet? This is the petty mentality.

It is a shame to burn the Yuanmingyuan, the Treaty of Shimonoseki is a shame, extraterritoriality is a shame, the war of aggression against China is a shame, Dulles' refusal to shake hands is a shame, it's always a shame. We seem to have no history other than humiliation. So, we probably have nothing else to do except retaliate. I think this mentality is sick. Fortunately, everyone has this disease, so there is no need for universal treatment. Everyone works and lives while sick. In another 50 years, if we can continue to develop well, become self-reliant, and get used to being strong, then this mentality will gradually fade away, and we will begin to be tolerant, simple, and easy to get along with. I don't always think that people outside want to take advantage of us, want to humiliate us, and have nothing to do except smash us. We will not be able to send protests, strong protests, the strongest protests every day, and the emotional and menstrual wounds of the people across the country.

For such a group of sick people, using the techniques in "Ip Man 2" to stimulate symptoms can induce symptoms. If it is in the hospital, the doctor gives chocolate to diabetic patients, so as to charge the treatment fee, it is a crime. If a doctor shines a bright light on a rabies patient and soaks them in a bathtub, it's devastating. It's good to be a film director. Doing the same thing, it's tempting to get sick, it's called superb skills, and it's very touching. A group of people finally cheered and applauded for the humiliation that has disappeared for many years, or even the humiliation fabricated by the plot. What a nonsense thing is this?

I like applause in movie theaters, but I don't want that kind of applause. It's really hard to live in a world where others always try to humiliate us and we try to teach each other a lesson. And what worries me most is that when you have jumped up to a height of more than 30 feet, when you fall down, you find that the other person's eyes are very frank, innocent, and very confused.

I was bitten by a snake ten years ago. Ten years later, when I saw the rope, I used a pair of scissors. I didn't have a rope and rolled it out and then used the scissors. I felt that this was the snake that killed the snake ten years ago. This is what I saw in Ip Man. 2", that's how I feel about those applause.

Ip Man 2 quotes

  • Landlady: Master! Someone wants to learn Wing Chun.

Ip Man: You want to learn Wing Chun?

Wong Shun Leung: Maybe. Just checking it out. I don't know what Wing Chun is.

Ip Man: Let me give you an introduction. As a matter of fact, Wing Chun is a close combat style from the South...

Wong Shun Leung: No need to tell me all this. Let's just fight. I'll pay you the school fees if I lose.

Ip Man: Ok. I am Ip Man of Wing Chun.

  • Ip Man: Let's talk. Will you release my pupil first?

    Cheng Wai-Kei: Release him!

Ip Man: Leung, are you all right?

    Wong Shun Leung: I'm fine.

Ip Man: Why did you injure him?

Wong Shun Leung: He wanted to fight, but wasn't as good as me. I couldn't really help it, could I?

Cheng Wai-Kei: What did you say? I'm not as good as you?

Ip Man: Take it easy! You're both young men. Injuries are inevitable in friendly fights. I'll visit your master and explain to him. May I know who your master is?

Cheng Wai-Kei: Doesn't matter. He's better than you anyway. By the way, did you bring the ransom?

    Ip Man: No.
