The film uses simplified props and short dialogues, depicting the confinement and even possessive love of the old-fashioned and stubborn old man living on the boat to the girl he adopted for ten years, and the various conflicts after the appearance of the sunshine boy who is in love with the girl. With the double symbolism of the most important prop, the bow, that is, the weapon used to protect or imprison the girl and the musical instrument with a mournful tone similar to the erhu version, the double contradiction between love and possession is deeply and vividly analyzed. When love is no longer pure and full of possessive and even indecent extreme colors, it will become a weapon to hurt others and oneself, and it is also doomed to the choice of the old man to destroy himself after enjoying the short-lived beauty with the girl. The bow at the end has a Zen symbol, and the last arrow shot by the old man broke the girl's body.
