But I still feel that this story is a little pale, and it didn't make me happy to be slashed sharply.
--------
The above is a short review I wrote after reading it the day before yesterday, and the more I think about it, the more wrong it is. I finally understood why I was unhappy.
Structurally, it's called "Brothers," but I don't know if brotherhood is the theme or war trauma is the theme. The first half wrote about the relationship between some brothers, and the second part is about the brother's experience in the war and the changes after returning home. Much of the space is devoted to the war and its legacy. This has more to do with war.
From the plot, brotherhood and war influence I always feel that the latter portrays more. I didn't focus on how my brother helped my brother out of the shadow of the war, but wrote a lot about how to integrate into the lives of my sister-in-law and niece after everyone thought my brother died in the war. This plot is really dazzling under the title of this brother. But to say the authenticity of the plot, I can agree, but I do not see where the contribution to the theme. It has even become the main reason for scattered themes.
From the perspective of character relationships, at first the whole family was proud of the elder brother and ashamed of the younger brother, and boredom was the parents, the sister-in-law or the little nieces. All this changed because of the news of the death of the elder brother, and the younger brother became better. And the story also begins to blur the theme. After returning home with trauma, my brother became the only protagonist in the family. And the psychological changes and performance of the older brother are the protagonists of the protagonist, and there is basically nothing to do with the younger brother.
The eldest daughter, Isabella, must be mentioned. The acting skills of the little actor are really worth mentioning, the grievances and crying after being contradicted, and the resistance at the sister's birthday party. There is also the meaning of this character, the relationship and status of the two daughters are like the epitome of the two brothers of the previous generation. But I'm still confused, I really don't know which theme is this very elaborate arrangement for?
brother? The aftermath of the war? what exactly is it?
