As a single father, he doesn't seem to be educating his son - Kyle - the wretched, arrogant, masturbation-addicted and music-hating boy (heretic among otaku).
I thought it was some of Hollywood's best family comedy, but I was wrong.
The first half of the film is disappointing with its bland, uninteresting humor, but when Lance finds out that Kyle SY has died, the whole film seems to go crazy. To be exact, Lance tries to cover up the truth about the death of his son SY. The last words that were written drove the whole film into a frenzy. People start to worship Kyle, Lance's lies are out of control, and his dream of becoming a writer seems to have been fulfilled in another way from the death of his son.
Seeing this, the screenwriter seems to be laughing at people's hypocrisy, isn't it?
Lance's literary talent doesn't actually get better because of his son's death. People will have an epiphany in life because of the last words of a deceased person. These two seemingly unrelated things are ironic in the eyes of the audience. .
The most impressive part of the film is the "turning point". When I was bored and wanted to take a shower, I was attracted by the scene of Lance crying silently in the face of his son's death. Perhaps because of conventional wisdom, I am amazed at how Americans associate death with a very private matter, even though I consider myself very open.
Be moved, because Lance has lost his beloved son. With his acting skills, I seem to have no reason to refuse to be sad. However, the cause of Kyle's death...;
laugh, but the sad and wistful episode and Lance's grief really don't look like they're prepared for laughter;
