Just for this movie, other people's society is more than 20 years more advanced than ours

In terms of effects, plot, production, and cast, "Monster of the Han River" is definitely a blockbuster. When I first watched it, I couldn't understand why such a large-scale film still had so many funny and nonsensical elements. The more I went deeper, the more I realized that the director made such a film not just to give the audience a visual enjoyment, but more importantly, political satire. Satirizing the incompetence of the government and the sadness of formalism, it turns out that the drunkard's intention is not to drink.
Not only this film, but also "The Tracker" and "Memories of Murder", all satirize an incompetent government in an almost absurd way. In the end, more than two hours of effort was still in vain.
What would happen if the directors and actors of these films were replaced by mainlanders? In addition to banning the broadcast, it is endless castration, which not only misinterprets the director's intention, but also blatantly rapes mainland audiences' right to entertainment. Even Ge You's famous work "Alive" can become a banned film, I am really speechless.
A truly courageous government is not afraid of others' cynicism, and I have never seen other people's society go into chaos because of a few movies.
The Chinese government doesn't even dare to face its own past, let alone let the movie satirize them.
Such a strong sense of self-protection can only show one thing - a lack of self-confidence. When will I be able to see similar movies in mainland movie theaters, then it will show that the government has really grown up and matured.
I think, this stage of growing up, how can there be more than 20 years?

Park Nam-il: [to Hie-bong] Why does he have to do that? He's not a little kid.

Park Hie-bong: Let him be. He wants to disinfect himself. He's worried he'll pass the virus onto Hyun-seo.

  • [the Park siblings are watching a report about them on a TV. One nurse being interviewed has had her voice sped up and her face concealed to protect her identity]

Korean nurse on TV: The blond one, who made direct contact with it. He's the stupidest of all.

Park Nam-il: That bitch. Listen to the mouth on her.

Korean nurse on TV: He pounced on me and slammed me to the floor. I think he gave me arthritis. That's what he's like.

Park Nam-il: I know who she is. Like we can't recognize her through that voice-disguiser?
