When I first saw the movie poster, I liked it. It's the medieval tone I like, the luxury of the baroque and the beautiful face of the Medic. Although I don't like Dorian's signature double chin of the handsome European guy, I am still attracted by the clarity in his eyes.
I read a lot of movie reviews before watching the movie, most of them were bad and ridiculing. I admit that my thoughts have been swayed a bit while watching the movie, but it is not my likes and dislikes that have been swayed, but because of those bad bridge analysis in my memory, I consciously pay attention to details that I would not have noticed before. For example, Dorian's upper body and face were covered with obviously too thin ketchup when he killed the artist, and even some frozen marks. However, that didn't stop me from appreciating the movie, at least in the big picture, before Dorian came back for the second time.
In the end, the story is about a narcissistic teenager who was bewitched by desire, cooperated with the devil to preserve his youthful appearance, and finally repented, returning to the beginning of sin and ending that sinful life. In addition to the elegant and exquisite furnishings and clothes of the era, what I "admired" was the director's exaggerated design of Dorian's absurd years. The middle part of the movie is full of chaotic emotional entanglements, no, maybe it would be more accurate to say that it is a sexual entanglement. Dorian is like a human cannon that is ready to be fired at any time. With his beautiful appearance, from 8 to 80 years old, all men and women are attracted to it, and everyone is dumped and dedicated to it. However, the too fast substitution speed runs through the rhythm of the whole movie. It's like a sex with no foreplay and the end of the game. There are endless poses, but none of them can make people tremble. There are too many elements, and the short-term replacement makes every character and every story seem so cramped. Especially in the end, Dorian fell in love with the girl who took pictures. Quick, that was the only feeling I had. I couldn't understand Dorian's sudden awakening. That rhythm is really in line with the mood of work~ It's a pity that it is used in storytelling, it really makes me unbearable~ My
favorite line design is Dorian's line "I just did what you want to do but dare not do." . Yes, in fact, there is no devil in the world, it is just a ruler in people's heart. If you cross it, you will become a devil, otherwise you will still be a mediocre person. But people are so longing for and infatuated with people who become demons, maybe it's just because it's a dream they can't realize~
