The dance of Take it All was so explosive, it felt hollowed out.
She understands his pain, she tolerates years of loneliness, and
condones the need for him to move between different women because of his "job", both mentally and physically.
She understood his needs and understood the meaning behind his every move. She was present in many places he needed, reassuring him.
Just because of the first love, it started when he opened up her beauty, released her, made her believe that she was unique.
So when the same picture appeared, but it was facing another person, her tears were so desperate!
So, "thank u for reminding me that i'm not special" made me cry.
Penelope's opening dance and lyrics always felt too straightforward, too sultry, but a little bit sexy. But after reading it and thinking about it in the whole movie, it makes sense.
Another favorite is Judi Dench's "Folies Bergeres". The interspersed and interactive childhood images are much better than Fergie's 'sand' dance.
