clip shows the heroine dragging the hero back to the women's bathroom, facing the mirror, and "filling in the empty shell".
My own opinion, without reference to any film
review Luc Besson's 2005 film, Angel-A Chinese translation is "Angel A".
The entire film is presented in black and white, and the lighting tends to be objective, with natural contrast, hue, purity and name. The heroine Angela's voice has been accompanied by a slight echo, especially in some scenes. This alludes to her angelic identity, as well as the revealing of Angela's "true self".
In the film I chose, the shot starts with a medium close-up, and then circles around the hero. It creates a gentle and unobtrusive transition. The characters turn from the back to the front facing the camera, and the audience is regarded as the mirror facing the people in the play, as if the audience is the projection of the people in the play. Or the talent in the play is the mirror image of the audience in the film, leading to a soft sense of substitution. Then, the scene in the shot changes to close-up, the shooting angle is frontal, and the character communicates directly with the audience. At this time, there is a sense of imbalance in the composition of the picture, and as the lens gradually gets closer and the plot develops, this sense of imbalance intensifies, that is, the left side of the picture is heavier than the right side. The audience's craving for balance is restored, which is what Angela calls "filling in the empty shell", putting the ego, or pure heart, back into its original place. Likewise, as the audience's cravings build up, a little bit of advancing camera pushes the characters toward the audience. My personal understanding is that this is a subtle process of merging, dissolving, daring to receive, and loving the true self. This process is experienced by both the characters and the audience. This group of shots also moved the audience's visual focus away from Angela, focusing on the details of the hero's expression wholeheartedly.
What Angela symbolizes in the film is the true self, or the inner soul. My personal understanding is that the moment when Angela disappears, that is, the moment when the protagonist's true self and apparent self merge, the so-called true heart returns to it. original location. When the hero accepts Angela, he also accepts his own sincerity. As a result, the long-cherished wish of the audience to restore the sense of balance is fulfilled, the self-acceptance and unity are completed, and the "filling the empty shell" is completed.
Speaking of music, when the ring beat is about to end, the soundtrack begins to play, with a soft melody. It matches the emotions and the plot appropriately, so that the audience's nerves can be relaxed in soothing and help them better understand the mood of the people in the play. And that crisp and delicate French, every pronunciation, every word, moistens the soul like dewdrops.
