, but this one, I was moved... I
first watched this movie because it was the debut of our Orlando Bloom, but I was told that he was in The footage in it is less than a minute, and the lines are only one sentence~ But then I found out that the handsome British guy Jude Law is the starring, so I downloaded this movie quite idiotically.
After watching it for more than ten minutes, I had an epiphany~
This is a GAY film.
I've never been a fan of tanmei. Start watching the four-minute film of "Total Eclipse" (who made one of the leading actors play the role of RJL in our family? The other star is actually "Jack" Leonardo DiCaprio... ·······), when the two played KISS, I almost vomited. After a long time, I suddenly downloaded the film on impulse. In the film, Verlaine was so cruel to his wife and children that I couldn't bear it, so I marked the film as "seen" after watching it for 20 minutes.
But for "Wilde's Lover", I actually kept watching. Probably because Robbie (actually playing the British Prime Minister Blair in "Queen") who appeared in ten minutes was not what Jude Law was expecting. But eventually, Bosie showed up.
In the data queried after reading, the real Bosie is more elegant.
The plot of the film doesn't have a lot of ups and downs, the whole feeling is Wilde and his lover, mainly Boise. Fighting for homosexuality in court, fighting for Bosie, Lord Alfred Douglas' father's abuse at home.
No normal father, not even the tyrannical one in the movie, would have consented to his son being gay in that era. Conflicts erupted naturally. A hundred years ago, homosexuality was naturally rejected by society.
Wilde sued Bosie's father for defamation - by then Wilde was already well known. But he was later counter-sued and sentenced to two years in prison for "indecent assault". (This incident was cited as a counter-example of not cherishing reputation in the first text of New Horizons English Volume 4, which made me a little uncomfortable.)
There is also a character in the film, Robbie. It was he who seduced Wilde into the path of homosexuality. But I felt that he was the one who loved Wilde the most. Wilde was always there for wise advice and help when he needed it most. And Boise is more of a depravity caused by a rebellion against the family. But Wilde loved him. Love his temperament, love his talent, love his uninhibited.
It's hard to imagine that I would rate and describe it this way. You may feel disgusted reading this article. But at the end of the movie, when Wilde came out of prison and met Boise, I suddenly felt a little moved... and I felt a little bit of understanding... After so much, they were still in Together...
Fans on Wilde's post say he deserved the two years in prison. Although I can't fully understand it. Because Wilde's wife described in the movie is so virtuous and kind. Even though he was criticized by the society, she still firmly understood her husband.
Wilde has always been kind to his wife and children. In prison, he expressed his repentance when his wife came to visit.
But his wife didn't live until he came out... On her tombstone, it was engraved: the wife of Oscar Wilde
(but in reality, after Wilde was released from prison, his wife and children were still there. Still choose Boise)
Many fans compare this film with "Total Eclipse of Heart". The story of the poet Verlaine and Rimbaud is also famous. Rimbaud was only 16 when Verlaine first met Rimbaud. But Verlaine's crazy behavior towards his wife and children is disgusting. The same two old masters, the same two handsome young rookies, but the ending of the story is surprisingly similar.
