warm movie

The title of the movie translates to "Kiss Dad". I took it for granted that it was a kind of comedy like "Super Daddy" or something. Looking at it, I realized I was wrong.

Dan is a freelance lifestyle columnist whose wife died of illness and lives with two teenage eldest daughters and a younger daughter who is starting to think independently in fourth grade. The child has many problems, but he firmly believes that he is a good father. He makes creative breakfasts, he neatly folds the laundry for the kids, and he wakes up late at night to write and answer questions from readers. He thought that was how his life was. Calm, trivial, a little boring, no waves. He guarded his girls a little nervously.

Until the annual family gathering, he took them to their parents' house in the suburbs. Dan's mother dislikes her son's mother-in-law and sends him to town to buy newspapers. When Dan walked into a small bookstore, his life changed.

He met a woman who thought of her as a book salesman. He enthusiastically recommended books for her according to her requirements. She accepted the half box of books happily, and reminded the boss to give Dan a commission. Dan made sure to buy her a drink out of goodwill and a little guilt from those books. On a rainy day, they were sitting in an old cafe chatting. Perhaps it was an inexplicable goodwill and trust, or perhaps no one had listened to it for too long. Dan opened up in front of this strange woman, talking about his own experiences and past, and about his deceased wife and daughter. She forgot the time, and her eyes were wet.

Until a call came in and she told him she was leaving. Dan asked for the phone, she hesitated because she had just started a new relationship, but she gave him the number anyway. She's incoherent, you better not hit, oh no, hit it. Dan is even more clueless, I'll call you and tell you I won't call you. On the way back, he kept laughing at himself. He violated the rules and speeded, and was ticketed by the traffic police.

When he got home, he couldn't wait to tell his family, Wow, I met a girl. While the family cheered for him, the younger brother pulled his new girlfriend down from the upstairs room to share. When Dan saw her, the two were stunned. Marrie, the woman Dan had met in the bookstore, had moved his heart long after his wife's death. He was a little frustrated.

Seeing this, I feel that the plot is a bit old-fashioned. Maybe the next thing is that the two of them can't hold back what happens. But Dan didn't, he's a good man who forbears, he's depressed, frustrated, childishly venting, but in the end he wants to pass up the opportunity. She came back from a run with her new lover, and saw the back of him taking the children in the car to play.

The warm family atmosphere is a big highlight of the movie. The happy big family of men and women play crossword puzzles together, go for a walk in the field, eat around the table and talk, wash dishes and cook, play rugby, row boats... The director may just want to make brothers Their pairings are right, highlighting Dan's extra loneliness. After the carnival every day, he slept alone in the laundry room. He joked that he lived in a VIP room.

With more and more contact, two people who have feelings for each other began to play "hide and seek" between adults. He accepted a blind date in a fit of anger, and she deliberately made pancakes for him to eat. While playing football, the two fell together, looked at each other, and Marrie gently pushed him away. The fourth-grade youngest daughter asks her older sister why her dad is flirting with Marrie. When the eldest daughter asked him face to face, Dan frantically denied it. He was asking what he wanted to do, and he was also suppressing his fear of hurting his daughter and other family members.

At the traditional house party performance, the younger brother is going to sing a love song for Marrie, and Dan will accompany him. The family whispered that Dan had not played in a long time since Dan's "she" was gone. When Dan hit the guitar, he watched Marrie sing with sincerity. The younger brother, who forgot the words, looked at Marrie and said, "What he sang is what I want to say." Marrie quietly wiped away the tears she had just moved. She decided to leave. She really left the next day. The whole family mourned the departure of this lovely girl. Dan sat silently in his chair, accompanied by his family.

Her call came and she said she didn't get far. Dan rushed out in the rain. They didn't have a relationship, he took her to bowling, and the empathetic bowling alley staff turned on the lights and played love songs for them. Just as the two were kissing, all the family members showed up. They came to play and saw this scene.

Dan told everyone that she was the girl he met. The younger brother beat him hard, and the family looked at her incomprehensibly. Marrie left crying, and Dan tried to chase, but something went wrong. The daughters, who have always been under the control of their father, expressed contempt for their father's daily words and deeds and this abnormality. Dan couldn't even negotiate with the publishers...it sucks.

He still knocked on the door of his daughters and told them that he would never do this again. He would be a good father, always thinking of their mother and watching over them. He said to himself, but I admit, I love her. three days. I am in love with her. I love her... The performance of this good man from beginning to end makes people look a little sad. And his younger brother, who was hurt before, has started a new relationship with Dan's blind date...

The little daughter hugged her father and said, go after her, now. The father and daughter went to battle with their parents, and the four of them went to find Marrie together.

The final piece was Dan and Marrie's wedding on a warm autumn afternoon at the house outside Dan's parents. Under the warm sunshine, all the people danced happily with beautiful melody.

This is a very simple love story. A good man met the right woman at the wrong time and at the wrong place. When everything was hopeless, God blessed him. The family he valued and cherished gave him the courage to love again. If the little daughter hadn't said that, if he didn't have a caring younger brother, if he didn't have a caring family, would this good man just miss each other with his beloved woman? Will he regret it after many years?

Fortunately, the movie has a happy ending. In the increasingly cold weather, people feel warm. I prefer the English name of the movie "Dan in real life". Also, the actress playing Marrie is Juliette Binoche. I love her look in this movie. Comfortable and clean.

Watching this movie, I would rather ignore the acting, the rhythm and all that. I hope it's the real story that happens around us.

Dan in Real Life quotes

  • Marie: [Entering laundry room where is Dan seated on a cot] What was that?

Dan Burns: [rises from the cot] I couldn't... I couldn't stop myself.

Marie: What am I supposed to do now?

Dan Burns: You can't do anything. He's my brother.

Marie: [stifling back tears] Why did you sing for me?... Then?

    Dan Burns: Because I... I'm

    [now shaking his head]

Marie: [reciting passages from Dan's book] Page 92. "Did I just die? Because an angel walked into the room". Page 148... uh..."I'll forgive you your past if you'll forgive me mine.". It seems all his best lines were yours. It's unbearable. I... I can't keep pretending.

  • Dan: [all together in the car] I think your sisters aren't very happy with me.
