Humble Belief or Humble Doubt?

In fact, I didn't plan to write a film review, I just reflected on my beliefs after watching the film.

I have also gone through a number of transformations from Christian to liberal skeptic. The mental journey among them will be omitted first, and this is not the subject of this article.

I have always believed that people should have faith. In fact, everyone believes in certain things whether they think or not, whether they admit it or not, although these things may change with age and experience. I think faith can be understood more as a kind of outlook on life and values.

I have always agreed with the idea of self-cultivation. In layman's terms, it means making yourself bigger and stronger. You can do it in any way. This includes systematic study, reading, watching movies, reading newspapers, challenging yourself, training, communicating, traveling, and thinking. . . But keep a humble attitude and a skeptical attitude anyway, because only then can you keep going. At the same time, believe in yourself and motivate yourself.

Everyone has their own beliefs, just like everyone has their own philosophy of life. I feel skeptical, constantly learning, positive, optimistic, respectful, understanding, tolerant, loving. . . It's all part of my philosophy of being a person, and I will continue to add.

Finally, I agree with what Bill said at the end, the attitude towards the ultimate problem should not be arrogant affirmation, but humble doubt. . .

I'm kind of worried that Bill will be assassinated for this movie. Of course, as a very anti-religious person, I strongly agree with his views, and I have long thought about it a lot. The film is also quite Michael Moore-style humor. But what made me laugh the most was the interview with the Dutch Cannabis Association. Ha ha.

This is not the question reflected in the documentary, and the answer can be found in The Man From Earth: Religion itself is not wrong, it is just being used by people

Religulous quotes

  • Tal Bachman: [an ex-Mormon] In the founding scriptures, you open the doctrine covenant, you read the autobiography of Joseph Smith. He quotes Jesus Christ as telling him that every other creed on Earth is, quote, an abomination. That's not a very ecumenical statement.

  • Bill Maher: The idea that Christianity is American, I think, is an amazing entitlement to a people who are always trying to meld God and country.

Bill Gardiner: The Garden of Eden was in Missouri, according to Mormonism. The new Jerusalem will be there.

    Bill Maher: Branson, I hope.
