they miss the adventure

I've watched John Cusack for so many years and most of his films, not because I like him so much, but because he's worked with so many actors that I like. As for him, although he didn't like him much, he never hated him. In my impression, he was a guy who worked hard and acted very naturally, but lacked a little spiritual energy. Unexpectedly, many years later, because of watching "Children of Mars", I started to like him a little bit.
It is probably human nature and the less beautiful side of human nature that the heterogeneity in the group is collectively excluded. This phenomenon is particularly prominent in the group of children, because adults somewhat know how to hide it. The child in this film is such an outcast, and he is adopted by a very successful science fiction writer who was also rejected in the past, and a husband who has just lost his wife. Such a pair of combinations is interesting enough.
The love in a person's heart is infinite. David, the novelist played by Cusack, takes care of this child carefully, observes him carefully, and manages the relationship between the two people painstakingly, which is really touching. The child Dennis is not lovable, and the sunscreen all over his face at the beginning adds to his weird image, but you only need to lean down and communicate with him, you will know that this is actually a fragile, pure heart. In a young life, he also wants to find similar people, needs the care of others, and can give you the purest love.
Maybe for some people, many life stages are not so smooth, or are often seen as different because of being different, but so what? Life is a journey, why not take some adventures? Those who follow the trend and live a comfortable life have missed a lot?

Martian Child quotes

  • Liz: Listen, I gotta take The Omen One and Two to soccer practice, okay?

  • David: Uh, listen, Chief, I, uh... I brought you some sunblock. Very strong stuff. SPF 45, that's sun protection factor, and uh, helps you against the ultraviolet rays, which are, you know, they call them the UV rays. Anyways, it's hypoallergenic and waterproof. I'll just leave it for you.
